  1. Good machine for that money. I like it on small stuff that won't need splitting as can just cross cut and lob onto the conveyer or if you have billets that don't need splitting again just take knife out and cut away
  2. Got the palax combi Mii. Think Caledonian forestry have a second hand 1 for sale at the moment but don't know what price is.
  3. That was my thinking with the palax, just speeds things up a bit, we only log what we bring back N once it's gon it's gon, no interest in starting to pay for timber.
  4. Scary ain't it, had the same type but with client just walking over and nearly into the head, frequency put the boards around my working area now just as a safety barrier to keep people out as much as keep grindings in.
  5. My old 700 was a bit on the soft side and always had belt problems, new 1ns might be better especially if they are auto change on splitter pressure.
  6. Pugs have such big caricature for there size but in my brain all are called frank....
  7. 👆same as mine, spoke to Simon at forst and it's normal.
  8. This would be a good start, quite full on if you haven't done anything before but it on my list for next year. http://www.trees.org.uk/Training-And-Events/Course-Detail?id=624F6FB7-6FB0-405D-AE11-2C7308249893
  9. Always a worry being worth more deceased than live nd kicking 😲
  10. Too wide and not a great deal of hight, looked at 1 before I got the landy nd decided if it was going to be a mog it needed to have a much bigger boom to make up for its own size. Can't even tow a trailer out with that 1.
  11. Mrs Flatters looks just a little toooo happy looking at all those sharp pointy things, look out Ian she could be coming for you!
  12. Any pictures? Not fussed about it tipping just being able to grab bundles of smaller timber or rings and noggins to minimise manual handling. Botex trailer, square bolsters so clips won't work unfortunately.
  13. Decking oil that has a fungerside in it might be good and probably cheaper
  14. Has anyone made a liner to lift into a ribcage forwarding trailer so you can load timber that's too short to sit within the bolsters. It's all too easy when dismantling to get bits that are just too short and run out of long bits to make a cradle for them.
  15. I like the kesk and as long as you wash the liner and tighten the little screws that hold the defs on regularly it's a really comfortable helmet, the petzls I've had never felt like they fitted me properly. The CT looks good and 1 of my lads likes his. Get to a decent arb shop or better the arb show and try a few for fit.
  16. Probably from the centre of the slew gear which on some trailers is full of gear oil to lubricate the slide. Post a picture up if you can nd might have a better idea.
  17. It's a beauty! I was purposely cutting stuff badly to see if it'd take it and it did! He keeps trying to egg me on to getting a 90xp....... one-day 😉
  18. Will you be putting them on the twin axle knot chassis like the new 990, was working with 1 this week nd was very impressed with performance and build quality.
  19. Bet it was, just 1 more load before going home..... Typical!
  20. Go bold, less likely to get nicked!
  21. Bit of spraying today, new doors and quadtech back to go on 130, black edges on box to do and front doors to build and spray then the fun realy starts stripping the rest of the vehicle to rebuild again. Eventually!
  22. Well done August Got a few of gerrys books and always found them inspirational and extremely informative so now it's nice to know a bit more about the man behind them Top job 👍
  23. It's not an excuse it's a well justified thought out reason to need 1 that just happened by accident. Realy nice looking rig you have now, you should be proud.
  24. Like it, keeps it away from over eager young groundies with chainsaws as well. Knowing the way my luck is going with good ideas at the moment I'd drop a chog of wood it'd bounce of a branch land straight on the bag and rip the straps off and tare a hole in it landing the whole lot in an unseen freshly laid dog egg.😭
