  1. Didn't realise what time it was and found I was in the middle of the demo circus when the meet up was on. Always next time or if I'm over your way.
  2. Devilish my man, I wouldn't change a word of how you put it as that's how I expresse my view when rattled! Thanks all, guess it just peeeed me off and I needed a rant, also what I got was only a part of the grant and involved no member of school staff doing anything or squeezing other parents for cash it all came through a grant which had to be tended for which involves declaring what it's getting spent on and an inspection after to make sure it did get what it was ment to all invoiced properly so no funny business. So em, other parents love em and other kids think my hannah has a cool dad who makes things with chainsaws so that makes it all better
  3. Must have just missed you hodge as I got on there and got me noggin Walmer and a few stickers and strangely 1 of which now adorns my flask?? Thanks Eddie, always nice too see you guys keep up the good work.
  4. Well you normally end up going 1 of two ways on estimating what you need. Either you go big and don't need all that the machine can give or you go smaller and end up wishing you'd gon the former when you can't reach it all and still end up climbing it. Normally comes down to £, access and what's available locally.
  5. Left about 9 I think,it was Steadily going down that's for sure, badger piss weren't it?
  6. 1am and i make it home, excellent day!! Met some new faces and some well known one's, I'd say old but they might be offended Shame I couldn't stop the night as camp shires was putting on good hospitality to all. Thanks for the food Mrs shires Enjoy your day tomorrow silky.
  7. Just realised the last picture don't show up the rippled affect like on water radiating out from the front right side, should look nice once weather in a bit, too clean at the moment!
  8. Mushrooms £15 each normally get £20-25 for that size. Chair £300, last 1 I did for a customer was £475 Benches £75 each. Normally 175 -250 but normally with slightly nicer legs and out of oak but still take around the same time. I'm happy with what I have made out of it just ranting about her attitude that they should have got more or that as I'm a parent or that my wife secured the grant which was for more than my part.... I don't know maybe I'm just being over sensitive about this as I care what people think of my work and take pride in it
  9. Actually I get less than minimum wage if you work out a £per hr rate for what I do as you would find with most small business owners and plenty of hassle to go with it.
  10. That's exactly what I feel like doing Ian but wife has pointed out its the children iv done it for not the staff, and with a bit of luck might get some private commissions from it.
  11. We did have a agreed price for it all, everything is above the spec or size requested. Looking on a few school serplying sites, mushrooms are £25+. Benches £250-£350 Story chair min £400 for something this big, to give a scale if I sit in it my feet can't reach the ground and it's over 6'tall. All the other staff love it all and so do parents it's just the head getting under my skin about me receiving money from a school my children are at - shouldn't make a jot of difference as it's part of my business that I do professionaly not as a hobby for cash in hand. Guess it's just peed me of with not so much as a thankyou. Next time they ask for a could you just with your trailer, clean woodchip help to repare something, or prune the willow dome and fruit trees I might just send them an invoice.
  12. 3 1/2 days 5 ltrs of decking oil 1 big chunk of redwood 9 x 8ft larch saw logs + some odd bigger but ends. Sanding disks for grinder. 20 8" turbo coach screws. 10ltrs of aspen. General saw usage costs etc
  13. Just completed this commission for my daughter's school which my wife findraised and gained a grant for through the school PTA. I thought I had given a very good price which basically covered my time and costs but the head teacher instead of being grateful is being funny with my wife about the money going to me. 1 large redwood story chair. 30 quite hefty mushroom seats. 5 carved 8ft long benches. Delivered and arranged on the field. Ps I have got paid so not fishing for a what should I charge Just for my own conscience I'm wondering what some of you lot would have charged 'ball park' as her attitude has quite bothered me tonight after all the work iv put into it.
  14. If you run a Coleman on aspen 4t is it safe to use in the van as less crap being burnt?
  15. With the jet boil can you still take a flat pan and cook up a Friday fry up on it? I'd say Coleman stove is most practical for us as it's hard as nails and if you run out of fuel in it just tip a bit aspen in and your back cooking. My old 1 got driven over so might get another this winter!
  16. Off Friday might stop Fri night to go sat if I feel I ain't had a big anough show fix but will have to face the wrath of the wife if I do
  17. Sell a few, mostly children's chairs as presents but this 1 was a commission for a hat maker hence the high back leg to 'hang a hat'. According to someone more lurned than myself the 1 arm thing is from victoriana times when lady's wore large bushels so would not fit in if a chair had 2 arms.... I just like it because it's quirky
  18. On with the benches tomorrow so should be fun, bit of milling, lots of sanding and shaping then a mission to deliver them!
  19. Me too, as with hodge I'm folicaly challenge so required a hat to keep me noggin walm over winter.
  20. Thought you was at show Friday, rather have larch than spruce any day!
  21. One of mine from a while back.
  22. Nice, keep fingers away from shiny sharp spinny bit as touching it smarts like hell!!
  23. Have you used something reflective for the eyes dan or is it just colour that makes em look lit up? Looks well happy with that!
  24. Good relaxation a bit of weapons throwing! Got a target set up for the big axe but walking back for it each throw can get tedious but those little tomahawks look good with 3 each time, another thing on the Christmas list!
