  1. Freaky Ian, almost said something when you said you are from Thirsk but didn't quite link it together lol.
  2. Ah cool that makes sense will have a look tonight back in the yard, cheers.
  3. What we need is a slim line backpack battery like a camel back shape with a lead out the bottom that also acts as a saw lanyard for the top handle saw and anough power to give a climber anough cutting time for an average day without recharging. Hedgecutting yes! Backpack battery as cable will be short semi retractable so shouldn't come in contact with the sharp bits it'll be lighter quieter and smell even nicer than aspen
  4. Looking on a few landy parts websites at trailer light sockets of a td5 and it comes as a kit that just plugs in.... Where? Need to get me a new Haynes manual for this 1, so used to 200tdi it's all a bit different.
  5. Glad we don't have to cut and chip at that pase every day but what can you do when only allowed a 1day closure when you request 2days. All that chip and the quadchip only supped about 15ltrs of red stuff, excellent fuel economy! Was very proud watching how well a 4man crew worked so well as a single unit progressing down this Rd smoothly achieving the clearance
  6. I'm not the best time keeper in the world and freely admit it but when I come out and lads are waiting for me after I might have had to find sort a bit of paperwork etc and then start putting boots on going back to there car for bate bag with a ow didn't know what we were doing today I get a bit peeed off. As said by treequip, on time is early fulledressed, fed, with full bate etc for day next to truck.
  7. Horrible rotting ash tree today, the trunk virtually exploded when it hit the deck that's my 390xp for scale farmer picked out the few decent bits of firewood from the top and the rest was pushed into an almighty bonfire!
  8. That's getting like asking the difference between blondy and Debbie harry
  9. You can say that again!
  10. Hickup and toothless, think I enjoyed going to c it as much as kids did! Lovely work dan!
  11. Just messing She was coming down but tried to leave as much timber in the air so groundys went falling over it till the brash was sorted. The ha ha made chipping a pain as couldn't drive anything big across the lawns but we managed.
  12. Lift, reduce and crown thin 1 mature beech today, quite proud of it really :what:
  13. If the ground crew is struggling to clear what the climber is producing say so ask them to take 5when there somewhere comftabl and that works both ways too the climber, don't swamp them it's discouraging . Like just said communication is key as a groundsman if you are working with a new climber take 5min before starting and talk through what's going on and find out if they have any idiosyncrasy that could cause friction if misunderstood again works both ways. In my experience as both climber and groundsman the friction is nearly always caused by misunderstanding each outher or when the climber is in a precarious place and needs full attention and ain't getting it be it a line back so he can get it clipped on or needs eyeing in or is simply about to squish someone because they didn't look up. Most important tip from me LOOK UP AS MUCH AS YOU LOOK DOWN it might just save your life. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  14. Ah sorry didn't see the laugh after that, thought you were being serious as usual.
  15. To be fair that's not a primary safety feature that's failed it's just a piss poor little bracket that holds that spout in transport position and if once it's folded down you've tightened up the clamps like the instructions say it ain't going anywhere let alone going to kill someone, at worst scratch a bit of paint. I too often get back to the yard and find some twerp hasn't put the pin in and it's dropped.
  16. Long hill but not that steep and yes brakes worked fine but then iv always driven landys some series 1s so crap brakes are just normal too me.
  17. Radio ear defenders was my answer for a while which had the added bonus that I couldn't hear the trainees mindless drivel about who he didn't boink last Friday or what happened on towe . Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  18. Quite agree! I did get 70 out of mine, ain't doing that again!! Get some pictures up once you get it. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  19. 90 hp???? Ain't that going to be a bit gutless ! Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  20. No a problem with mine as it's 12volt so worth checking before you order a radio, if it's 12halfords have some DAB on offer at moment as about to get 1fir new landy so I can rock out as we wallow along. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  21. Newer 1s don't look nearly as tinny as the 1 I used 10years ago, hopper looks better designed and frame is definitely bigger section, good occasional use machine but no was a comershal fuel chip production machine as the are said to be.
  22. New boss??? Thanks for the kind comments Paul but as a kiwi mate used to say give a lazy man a hard job and he'll invent an easier way of doing it! Will give you a bell later on for a catch up as will need a hand on a few jobs soon. thanks Paul john
