  1. Na you have a removable fuel tank you keep in the truck, should save 30kg easy, remove the spout and put in back with chip 10kg, no spare tire 20kg, 3pot engine instead of 4pot 20-20kg, there you go just saved you 80kg without any compromise to material quality :-P
  2. Climber with balls of steel letting the grab lift bits off above him, did that once and dropped a bit out the botex grab luckily didn't hit owt. I say dropped but more like the grab stripped the bark from the outside of the log which let it slip, slings or chain every time now. Nice looking grinder!
  3. Local landscaping serpliers/garden centre, might even pay you for it Ells some farms might take it and mix it with the muck and spread it on the land to loosen clay soils.
  4. That's what I progressed from which was definitely a step up from blakes or prusick but not as responsive or as predictable in changing weather conditions. Zigzag in the wet is the same as the dry, believe me iv tried in rain that men should not have the work in, think silky has a good photo off that day too! Also never have to dress a zigzag like a vt so can all be done 1 handed while balancing yourself with other without the feer of it slipping as you applied you wate.
  5. Ian if you ain't tried it you need too but it's not something you can appreciate by 'having a quick go ' you gotta work it use it enjoy it then you'll not want to part with it. Or put simply. Yeh it ok....
  6. Lots but you'll be climbing for a few years less with the extra strain a prusick puts on your joints so longterm false economy IMO. Agree with all comments about it shouldn't happen but I'll still be using mine every climb as ain't been to the osteopath once since changing to the zigzag to have my lower back sorted so with that saving I could have bought about 3 I'm the time.
  7. Don't you just love the public, had similar with a bloke wanting to know how much I'd pay him to take down his tree because it was oak and worth a lot of money!?! Fact was it was only about 10" diameter and would need ringing up to get it out the garden. Told him I'd give him 50quid for the timber if he gave me 400 too cut it down 1st. Still waiting by the phone for him too call back.......
  8. Bluetongue all the way for me, imoria was a bit sticky and tecion was a bit soft and squished quite a lot I found. Have a surch on youtube for my video Recriational climb on a zigzag and you'll see how the bluetongue stands up too it.
  9. Not if me and jc trees can help it they don't! Depends if by highway you mean the A1 m62 a1m etc or the normal A and B roads Highways tree work ain't what it used to be with no more big cutting back contracts, now they flial as much as they can and only get the arbs in to solve problems or deal with dangerous trees. Still big motorway cutting back works at night but back too company's like atm.
  10. But would your insurance company be bothered about it not being right if something happens, just saying like :-S
  11. Hope it works for you sometimes you take a gamble and it works sometimes you regret it let's hope this ain't 1 of them, never used 1 so can't comment on how good this 1 is.
  12. Get hold of the few wheel and give it a good wobble to check the tin can bearings are ok. Is that hopper and stop bar hse compliant these days? Worth checking as could be a pain to turn up to a job and stopped from starting as someone is not happy with it! Have a look at the tires and make sure evenly worn as scrubbed on 1side means the indespension units are goosed .
  13. That's brilliant, I have my daughter convinced fairy's still exist. Sat near a lake and the fish were feeding and making rings appear on the surface so I said it was the fairy coming to fill there water bottle, she was enthralled for hrs especially when she spotted a dragon fly wiz past close which sealed the deal that they exist Kids should be allowed to imagine and play afterall it's health for them to actually think and not just watch a.screen.all day
  14. Ow yes, hopefully take some of the strain off my knees that done like rigging down spars off spikes any more. Will do a short video of its 1st set up at home and a quick run round.
  15. You was busy busy busy! Don't worry I warmed mattys hands up with a bit a bit bigger than he thought it was and I thought Ben did a good job for his 1st experience of rigging.
  16. That'd be a step up in chipping performance!
  17. No that was my expensive silver bull rigging bag that I'd minutes before told them to shift and hadn't realised the hadn't. Not to worry it took it and survived
  18. Don't know will go watch and check, don't think I squished 1 this time...
  19. Like the tune, nothing like opening a new box of shiny toys and getting into the trees to play with them,. So how you getting on with the H C?
  20. Think it's about time you look for a newer chipper bud, the little yellow wasp seems to be giving you continues grief these days! You possibly be able to use a newer box of a timberwolf 150 as pritty much the same but could be big ££££ unfortunately.
  21. Congratulations to both you and your wife, take good care of them all as that's you sorted for care when your old and decrepid. How many is that now?
  22. Big sycamore with dryads saddle, the centre section was sosoft you could punch it and leave knuckle imprints, mature I know! Ground level not a mark in the stump, perfectly white but from 8ft up till the crown brake just sponge inside. All off for habitat in some other section of the estate away from the main grounds.
  23. What? I finish it in 3days, couldn't put it down. I'm the same Mathew, it's a subject that fascinates but scares me in equal measure, what world will our children grow old in and if not them than there children will experience grate change of some form I'm sure!
