  1. Just don't use red chainsaw 2stroke as it makes your derv go. RED and we all know what happens when vosa dip your tank and it's RED. Might take a little explaining as a local lad too me found out last year after reading that it would make his landy run quieter. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  2. Drove past the tree again and back in full leaf, amazing! sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  3. Agreed on that, sure beats any modern timber winch iv ever used, the only 1 I think that bettered a Boughton was a 20ton twin speed cooks that was on the back of a murehill, now that thing could pull!and the tractor never flinched as I think the bloke recond it was over 8ton of tractor. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  4. Yes aspen that's right and you can still get all the parts if somehow you ever brake it. Don't see many on nuffields as we're thought to be too light on the front end. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  5. Only 1time had a problem on the major and that was a bit of a off line pull when it tried to pick the whole tractor up! Almost sure it will come out as that's how I was going to have it converted to hydraulic so it could go on the front of the Valtra as a heavy recovery winch but as with many things never got round too it. Was trying to remember size of cable and how much it was when put a new 1on, remember I got it from army sales place off a fodden recovery truck. Got a bit of video clip some place of the ford son driving forwards but being dragged backwards till the spades dug in and pulled a whole ash tree up a field to wher we were burning up, will try and get it off old computer and YouTube it. 6. Also they have sod all grip if it's that damp greasy soil as they have too little ground pressure to bight in which is how they were designed to be . Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  7. That's been on and off eBay quite a few times now. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  8. Back plate is the same as 1 on eBay at moment but that's a slightly smaller model winch. You could do what I planned to do and make a frame up that runs the full length of the tractor under the axcells and fix mount the winch to this and a top link doing away with the movable bottom links with a very short pto. Talking to a old school timber boy he reckons that the male shaft part on the winch comes out to allow it to be close coupled or depending on middle some were mounted slightly higher with some sort of chain from out put shaft to winch shaft but this might hav been Darlington winches. 9. Nowt wrong with wearing pink and being a tree man unless it's pink stilettos of course..... Cheers Jon, where you off up tis way? Good treck in a 110 upto these parts! Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  10. Had the scarfell xer for nearly 2 years now and just got a pair of the fellhunters as fancied a pair of higher boots for when my knee ankle problems need a bit more support , actually just used them as hiking boots round arran for two weeks, very comftoble so if these non protective boots are anywhere as good I'll be getting a pair. Omt is that the pruning spikes for silky only jobs : ) Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  11. Yes my old fordson got as far as completely refurbishing the engine when I got it with the plan for a full refurbishment but unfortunately had to sell her to help pay for converting the rb44 into a tipper. Always wanted a 4x4 roadless or early county super 4 or 6 but would have too sell a kidney to afford it!! sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  12. Looks like you will have to get a new yoke to go onto the transfer box and replace the whole uj, no point replacing just bits of it as it comes as a whole unit of bits with new bearings in it, you shouldn't need to replace the whole shaft as that part looks undamaged. Easy anough job to do but a little fiddely, even changed 1at the side of the a66 with a hammer after 1gave out near shap. Always have a spare as my 130 eats front 1s with the lift. 13. Good bollard but problem is you carnt cut them in for big chogging down and on thin barked species when not dismantling the tree you risk a lot of cambium damage. Better to get the stine bollard or capstan which sort of sit either side of it in performance terms and price wise. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  14. This is the day I snapped them pulling this windblown beech back and down from behind the stump. Won't do that again the way they have been strengthened! sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.

  18. Ain't used them yet as tend to use normal nylon wedges for most of my felling and only use the hilift occasionally, will let yous know when iv abused them. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  19. Just ag register it and tell everyone it's for invasive vegetation management sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  20. Why, a wendywolf and my quadchip only have 2 blade's? I did use a combination machine 1time no idea what it was but you could fold the blades back for shredding and the flails back for chipping. It could have done with a few more ponies under the bonnet but otherwise was a fairly good machine. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  21. Drilling them out is a lot easier but since someone pointed me in the direction of the fiberglass inserts from Clark forestry I hope I won't be doing it nearly as often! sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
