  1. how do these compare to meidl airstreeams? ive always had and liked airstrreams but we cant get hold of them at the moment. thanks carl
  2. in the op,s opening posts the reason for the application was to do with tree safety and neighbor's listed building and yet in the pdf application link it only states suckers and roots being a nuisance? has there been any recent landscaping or returfing carried out around the rootzone of the tree? carl
  3. spending some time with a throwline to get your mainline near the top of the tree will make spiking up much easier, rather than just relying on your lanyard.
  4. as this is arbtalk iam going to say neither, beans on toast, much better!!!
  5. this mornings storm "eunice" brought this big mac down, not quiet the easy friday afternoon w e had hoped for, still 11ton rubber duck made easy work of the lumps.
  6. i tried with a sprayer and found the creosote to thick to spray out properly.
  7. thanks for the replies, i ended up getting a draper storm force machine, pretty low quality Chinese build but seemed to do the job with a good bit more power over my old machine. it was a €100 picked up on the way home so no messing with delivery's. thanks again carl
  8. my very old little router has given up, so looking for a new 1/4 collet machine, seen a clarke one local to me thats cheap. any advice thanks carl
  9. ive never had this, although if iam running it with the bar off id only run gently on half revs, usually to see if its oiling.
  10. stick with it , it can take a while to get all the new gear to work well, settings, travel adjustment ect. if you can find the time and a tree with a clear asscent , then play about up and down adjusting gear and techniques to see what works. it does take time.
  11. its rarely the wood itself that causes a blunt chain, usually dirt, stones , metal in the wood or getting hit on the ground
  12. i really dont get the whole tree work fashion, trend bit!!!!! is it not about function??? each to their own though
  13. my zig zag developed a crack in it practically before it was out of the box!!!, i dont feel i misused it at all, so i returned it and got a lockjack
  14. id imagine either the chicane as its made for the zz or a rope wrench pretty sure you can use them with a zz but id check that! a foot asscender and some sort of chest harness thing for advancing the system and id say you coud get going on srt, plenty more gear for it available but easier to start simple.
  15. try posting in the climbing section, also a bit of info about what friction device/set up you are using will help with replies
  16. funny i was thinking about rory mcleod the other day, great performer. saw him in brighton years back, is he still gigging?? carl
  17. nothing wrong with being the oldest person on the course, the nptc,s are a good basic course in which you would learn loads. theres plenty of good info on the net but theres no way of knowing whether your implementing it properly. theres a lot of folk on here who know their stuff, i think you will learn more if you listen to them rather than arguing with them. carl
  18. hey john87, how long have you been climbing and have you had any formal training? thanks carl
  19. yep try before you buy is best if you can

  22. i use a stihl msa 160 battery tophandle at work, its brilliant for prunning and deadwooding, not really a take down saw. battery lasts for ages and its very light compared to a normal sized petrol tophandle.
  23. anyone else climbing on a rope runner pro?, how are you finding it? thanks carl
  24. id say any digger is better than no digger!
