  1. hi just looking for advice on how to sharpen stump grinder teeth, the machine is a predetor 450 and the teeth are from rotortech not sure the name but they have a finger nail cutting profile, we have a diamond disc in an angle grinder. thanks carl
  2. thanks for the reply, sort of what i suspected, il leave it as a last resort option, carl
  3. hi has anyone dismantled and weighed in a mobile home before? i have a 28 x 10 old mobile home that i may have to move just wondering what sort of weight is in the metal work. thanks carl
  4. oops just reread it "career ended" not life, my mistake sorry
  5. are you sure about him being dead?
  6. fair enough if everyone is happy with it. i wouldnt call training a waste of money if it means you learn how to climb and cut properly.
  7. seems a bit strange to spend all that money on gear and insurance but none on training? and for some free firewood!! is the insurance even valid with no tickets?
  8. was he not originally saying 50 an hour ie 400 a day?
  9. well if you can win well paid work and pay your workers top dollar then thats great, fair play
  10. so for you to sub in a good climber and groundie for a day is going to set you back 800 quid?? or is that employed on the books....
  11. well i like the xstatic, flys through the device like a dream, bad points, doesnt take knots so well and hard to grip when ascending, i still like it though. afraid i havent tried the other rope in question. carl
  12. stick it on done deal and hope to god someone else is mad enough to buy it off you!!!
  13. cant you just use it with the ones fitted on the inside as per your first photo? id imagine they would be fine for most kind of cutting.
  14. stick up some photos, someone will be able to help, sounds a bit odd to me.
  15. i would always take my cambium saver out if i was finished in the tree and the cambium saver was nearby, then just put your mainline rope around a suitable anchor branch and descend, much easier than trying to retrieve the cambium saver from the ground. i would always try and ensure i had enough rope to get to the ground through out the climb
  16. steve , how was the weight comparison? sounds like a pretty impressive saw
  17. what about the tree in the background of the second photo? looks like there is a bit of decay at the base( iam not saying it whether it needs felling or not)
  18. he probably would of died!!! but he,s spent a lifetime climbing some of the worlds biggest and sketchiest trees to become one of the top arborists in the world, so he didnt put in a bum cut! that video blew my mind the first time i saw it, a blend of big balls and a lot of technical skill
  19. i think legally your not meant to burn stuff, i guess if you have an arsey neighbour then it could be a problem, ive burnt loads of stuff if it has a lot of nails in it.
  20. id use a angle grinder with a thin disc to take the nail heads off, when removing the tin rather than trying to pull the nails out. it might be an idea to let the digger take down the roof timbers if you are going to burn them, a lot easier and safer than ladders and chainsaw.
  21. too hard to say with thoses photos, it could be well stuck in the euc in which case it may be better to climb up and free it first. ive found that things that look like they are barely hanging on can often be very hard to dislodge!!
  22. i dont find it down on power compared to the old petrol one, probably not as robust but then again the old petrol one always seemed to need new shaft bearings. try the weight of one if you get a chance.. theres a big difference.
  23. id say go battery if you can, much lighter, no noise or fumes.
  24. i think to be honest you have answered your own question, you filled your saw with his "special fuel mix" and it wouldnt start!!!! btw i know nothing about fuel mixes, always used 50:1 as i have never had a problem with it and i assume the saw manufactures know what works best in their saw. i think if people are tweaking the ratio it tends to be more oil not less but i could be wrong.
