  1. That fairly impressive then. Do you have the same hole drilled into the rear handle of a 550xp? I would.
  2. Is there no need to have any additional clamping force stuff other than the pop springy thing?
  3. T540xp, 560xp, ms660, are what I use, if I have to add 2 more it would be a 200t and an 046. 200t will have undoubtfully earned me the most money over the years.
  4. Good Friday well beats bank holiday Monday hands down. I know it's a double bonus this weekend thanks to some bloke who got nailed to a tree but a Friday out of work is quite brilliant.
  5. I just don't see the point in using a cheap chain unless it it's just as good as an expressive one for normal everyday professional use. Why would I want to use a top pro saw that doesn't cut as well as it should? Ok if it's getting used on poor jobs where the chain is getting battered every 5 minutes otherwise no chance.
  6. No need, my mum gives me medals all the time so I have plenty in my bedroom. I did mean to put a link up that would have made my post a bit less arsey Rotatech B2SFT 72 Drive Links Chain - Northern ARB Supplies
  7. The only way is to go round to see what the problem is and sort it out. ie is it bent or not for a start. Did you pay him for lending his saw? If not he might be a bit pissed if you gave him a saw back that cuts round corners whether its a bad chain or bent bar. Im with Steve in regards to lending equipment, there is no issue if its sorted out before hand and both parties look after and know how to use the gear. Ive helped loads of people out in the past and plan to do in the future by lending equipment out.
  8. Ditto.
  9. Hmmm, there is getting a job done, and no doubt this guy did it, although there were a few fines lines between success and snuff video imo, and doing a professional job. Getting it down and cut up does not constitute a pro job, my nan could do that and she hasn't been a pro since the war. I think the vid is ace and like his ingenuity but it looked like bloody hard work.
  10. I've just found it in about 30 seconds.
  11. It seems that a lot of people really have no clue as to what chain they are using! A standard 550/560 are exactly the same ie .325 pitch 1.5mm gauge.
  12. That's brilliant.
  13. They look very smart. Reminds me I should get back into splicing as with the right rope it is a bit therapeutic.
  14. I would say no its not fair, is it really going to cost you that much more in the grand scheme of things? And who doesnt have a drivers license in this day and age? Are you employing street urchins or something:001_smile: People who say they would jump at the chance and they had to pay for everything etc, etc I guess you run your own show? A big difference compared to people who are happier being employed so its not fair to make comparisons imo.

Have you tried spitting on it then guiding it in with your thumb?
  16. People will still nick it for themselves. Ime nearly all off it is still in the country it was stolen from and either being used by the thieves who took it or by your competition, that may not be direct competition but nevertheless by 'fellow' tree surgeons, foresters, landscapers etc. My thinking is that there are three main reasons people steal 1 they have no morals, 2 they aren't going to get caught and 3 if they do get caught the consequences aren't bad enough to stop them in the first place.
  17. Its a bit late once they have done it hence a deterrent. Yes it is better that people change rather than continuing but let's not congratulate them as it's the very least they can do. Although a family member had a half way house setup next door but one, should didnt thank anyone for that, luckily she upped and moved and got her kids out of there.
  18. I also beg to differ. Once a thief always a thief. You can never change the damage that has already been done, your past victims will always see you as a thief. Once the crime has been committed it really is too late, I have been the victim of crime from an early age, my parents and me have had to work harder and longer and do without possessions due to scum. I know people who have lost their business and their family due to the pressure and stress caused by crime, I know others who have died not longer after enduring serious theft crimes. We don't need incentives for criminals to stop crime at all, we need deterrents that work end of.
  19. Well it takes no skill or thought on how to use a prussik, a spiderjack is the opposite end of the spectrum, a good device but you need to learn how to use it.
  20. Just dont get stuck in only using a prussik, too many people do and pay the price when time marches on a bit.
  21. Who cares about the chipper your house looks cool:thumbup1: A good day as the weather feels as though its moving towards spring, autumn and winter seemed to have lasted an age.
  22. Ditto to that. Thieves can do their time in jail and then move on whereas a lot of victims live with the issues for the rest of their lives. Hang em all and make the place that bit better to live in.
  23. At least it's relevant. Don't bother with chainsaw protective gloves unless they are a requirement by your employer. These are good gloves. Cutter Gloves - Home
  24. Only ever thought this applied to distant selling! When we win a job it's usually difficult to try and get the customer to agree to wait a couple of weeks, they usually wantrit doing last Thursday. I presume, and can anyone confirm this, if I do a job within the 14 days without mentioning cooling off period etc then the customer has the right to decide not to pay us for the job? If true I imagine the percentage of customers who would do this is more or less non existent to not worry about it.
  25. Err, so you havent signed up Plumbing Forum | Plumbing Advice | Plumbers Forums | A forum for plumbers advice in the UK Is anyone really a tree surgeon? Im a welder that chops trees of a weekend, I thought we were all singing from the same song sheet here. I didnt realise it was a proper job:confused1:
