Hmmm, there is getting a job done, and no doubt this guy did it, although there were a few fines lines between success and snuff video imo, and doing a professional job. Getting it down and cut up does not constitute a pro job, my nan could do that and she hasn't been a pro since the war. I think the vid is ace and like his ingenuity but it looked like bloody hard work.

It seems that a lot of people really have no clue as to what chain they are using! A standard 550/560 are exactly the same ie .325 pitch 1.5mm gauge.

I would say no its not fair, is it really going to cost you that much more in the grand scheme of things? And who doesnt have a drivers license in this day and age? Are you employing street urchins or something:001_smile: People who say they would jump at the chance and they had to pay for everything etc, etc I guess you run your own show? A big difference compared to people who are happier being employed so its not fair to make comparisons imo. -
Have you tried spitting on it then guiding it in with your thumb?

People will still nick it for themselves. Ime nearly all off it is still in the country it was stolen from and either being used by the thieves who took it or by your competition, that may not be direct competition but nevertheless by 'fellow' tree surgeons, foresters, landscapers etc. My thinking is that there are three main reasons people steal 1 they have no morals, 2 they aren't going to get caught and 3 if they do get caught the consequences aren't bad enough to stop them in the first place.

Its a bit late once they have done it hence a deterrent. Yes it is better that people change rather than continuing but let's not congratulate them as it's the very least they can do. Although a family member had a half way house setup next door but one, should didnt thank anyone for that, luckily she upped and moved and got her kids out of there.

I also beg to differ. Once a thief always a thief. You can never change the damage that has already been done, your past victims will always see you as a thief. Once the crime has been committed it really is too late, I have been the victim of crime from an early age, my parents and me have had to work harder and longer and do without possessions due to scum. I know people who have lost their business and their family due to the pressure and stress caused by crime, I know others who have died not longer after enduring serious theft crimes. We don't need incentives for criminals to stop crime at all, we need deterrents that work end of.

Well it takes no skill or thought on how to use a prussik, a spiderjack is the opposite end of the spectrum, a good device but you need to learn how to use it.

Just dont get stuck in only using a prussik, too many people do and pay the price when time marches on a bit.

Ditto to that. Thieves can do their time in jail and then move on whereas a lot of victims live with the issues for the rest of their lives. Hang em all and make the place that bit better to live in.

Only ever thought this applied to distant selling! When we win a job it's usually difficult to try and get the customer to agree to wait a couple of weeks, they usually wantrit doing last Thursday. I presume, and can anyone confirm this, if I do a job within the 14 days without mentioning cooling off period etc then the customer has the right to decide not to pay us for the job? If true I imagine the percentage of customers who would do this is more or less non existent to not worry about it.

No and I bet it's never happened, within reason. It can be uncomfortable as already mentioned.

You aren't supposed to only be attached by your side d's but that's what 99.9% of people do, so in reality I wouldn't worry about it. The above is when moving your mainline only as there is no other reason to only be attached on the d's.

I don't see the problem. Surely they are only walking the dog and "will be back in a minute." I think there are a lot of stupid people out there but more and more who know what they are doing but just don't give a fook about anyone else, which is 10 worse imo.

I think you have your answer. In an ideal world it would be great to pay everyone a better wage no matter what they do but.. Does he think he can get £125 from someone else? FOr £100 a day I would expect to have a really excellent groundie who knows the job inside out, I couldnt see many people paying £125 unless they are running a team etc. Good luck and I hope you can stay mates no matter what happens.

I don't know how you can manage to get away with not cleaning air filters! Ditto on a lot of other maintenance things though.

Totally agree although I would never mince, I prefer to saunter and have been know to prance but not mince.
