1. I musta easily had over £500,000 worth of work over the years from Yell, actually probably more like £750,000. I'm not knocking them, they dont force me to advertise.
2. Brilliant stuff:thumbup1: BUT!! some step by step photos man!!!! Please:blushing:
3. Bring on the technology I say:thumbup1:
4. Bleedin good job:thumbup1: Pity that you didnt notice and just ran them over instead.
5. Splicing looks excellent to me:thumbup1: Wouldnt go amiss if one or two of you decided to start a thread with a guide to splicing:thumbup: 16 strand please.
6. Only ever tried the VT. Some good photos from you two there:thumbup1: and some good advice from Frank:thumbup: Thanks.
7. Distel it is then. I'll give it a blast. Thanks
8. I did realise that but obviously my ash comment didnt come across the way I meant it too. All I meant was that in Ash it is very nasty and would expect it to be the same with beech, although I have never seen it on beech tbh.
9. I know your trying to help and get the course filled but without the jobs at the end its not worth it to the students tbh.
10. This is unfortunately why I get lots of calls from new lads wanting work.
11. Cheers for the complements Here's another one from the side of the ship.
12. Not to worry none of the stuff I say is very wise:laugh1: Just look at the hollow beech on Monkeyd's thread. That could help you decide whats strong enough. Changed to... Sorted.
13. No to worry I use a yale bull rope which unless I'm very much mistake is perfect for NC rigging:biggrin: Is all your manilla ropes grown and spun at home? Actually I've climbed on one of those although it was 15/16 years ago! They do smell nice though!
14. Hey I know what a cambium saver is, I saw one once in a book. Anyway when I was in training trees were harder back then and didnt need such pampering devices.
15. Fell it or dont. Staged fells are a waste of time from what Ive heard. The house will move now or later if its going to, so fell now repair house and all is well. Obviously I'm no expert, just have the above opinions passed on to me by experts, well they think so at least.
16. Actually just read its at 1 metre, I wouldnt worry about it tbh would assume there is plenty of sound wood there.
17. It will effect the structure strength. As for how much its hard to say. Ash is very very weak with this and not good at all to rig down on, well not snatch out big bits that for sure! It should be fine to climb on and rig out as long as it aint too much.
18. Thing is though, and this is just a guess, unless the chain failed very quickly ie before it had a first sharpen, who is to say operator error wasnt the cause of the failure. So what if it failed at the made up link, could be because of lack of chain oil, chain tension or mechanical damage.
19. I always make up our chains these days. Have had the odd one snap back in the days but nothing recently as far as I remember. Although also had a fair share of dealer chains snapping. Although it is an obvious H&S issue of a flying bit of sharp steel have never had or heard of an injury from a snapped chain. So to me I would say it is a low risk.
20. Gods knows. Had something to do with Krabs I think.

21. Not really a sunset but a pic at dusk in Alaska from the back of a ship.
22. OK no one take this as a negative post but I can tell you NOT to buy a husky bag as the speed that they fall to pieces is unbelievable. Actually the old ones were even worse, no one got more than a few days out of them, I kid you not!
23. All in jest my man. And NO certainly NOT!
24. He was obviously so overwhelmed by the help he forgot to say thanks. Or....you idiots it wasnt that, youve wasted my time completely. So go on Arbaholic was it that then? Always good to know what the problem was for future reference.
25. Yep this wire usually at the bit pointed out by number 2.
