Maybe the branch collar was difficult to see so they left a stub so they could come back later and prune back to the branch collar when it was more visible(apparently) An then err forgot.

I think the same also. It isnt good to run a saw lean/dry. But, I do it all the time when using the saws ie it runs out of juice which I find out when it starts running lean. Difference though I suppose is stopping the saw straight away and not getting the last dreggs out of the tank.

You musta been lucky not to have watched any Jerry Springer, Ricky Lake,Jerry Jones Oprah etc. They often had people like this guy on saying this type of stuff. Every other sentence had the words self esteem in it! It just seemed this guy was saying the same stuff to me. Yeah thats the stuff but imo it soon turns into what I was saying. People start to believe everything is about them, they are capable and should have the opportunity to do anything they want and stuff what everyone else is doing because they dont care, well unless they are in the way then they can get trodden on. You only have to watch one episode of American Idol to know I'm speaking the truth. Although you are probably right though and I do have it wrong, so many people these days do look to blame others more than they deserve and self image is becoming a major problem unfortunately.

Hey, I even started watching the second one too, for about 3 mins till it bored the pants off me. Nothing wrong about liking yourself, I was more referring to the thread title. Just seemed to be the same old stuff to me, which ends up with people thinking they can achieve anything and that no one should stand in their way. Theres nothing wrong with putting others before yourself imo and this seems to be the exact opposite. Maybe I have his ideas all wrong, its just the way it came across to me thats all. Only watched the first one so only commenting on that. Yanks and self esteem! Sounds very selfish to me!

Dont forget though you need to make sure you can fit/machine the hydraulic pump up to the engine and the the output has a useable shaft to run a pulley. If not you can end up paying an engineer a good few hundred quid to machine some parts up.

From seeing your posts and vids/pics of work I dont doubt it for a minute. But, we all do that dont we? We all have done the crappyiest jobs and worked the hardest and did the best work and worked for a pittance and we didnt have it easy and it was hard graft not luck that got us here and everyone else moans.......

Lol they didnt chip the nests. The trees were covered in wall ties were they had fallen out of the nests. Although they and me(I dont mind taking the blame pooh happens as they say) tried to keep an eye out we couldnt see everyone so the odd few ended up going through!

The end result of using machines is that the cost of the service or product is cheaper. The benefits along the way are that its physically easier ie no log moving by hand or brash slashing in a truck/skip. I wonder if I would have more work if we had no chippers and chainsaws? Jobs would take a lot longer but the price would be much higher.

Took a row of lomardies down next to a building site. Had 2 dumpy bags worth of wall tie nests! Destroyed the blades on the chipper that day:thumbdown:

Ermm I hope that those that think using spikes while pruning isnt a problem arent justifying there actions. Besides it not usually a couple of little spike wounds, there a a few long tears on that tree. -

Tbh even if earmarked for a fell they dont even warrant the time it takes to buckle up a set of spikes. They prob got a spec to deadwood and crown lift, looked at the state of the tree and thought a few spike wounds wouldnt even make a difference. Still no excuse though. -

Its not what you do or how you do it, its how you say your going to do it. Oh and your price! You could be an arb firm installing stairlifts for the elderly as long as your cheap and you have good equal opportunity policies.

New to me tbh, I will check out the oil I use tomorrow it could be fully synthetic but I do think it specifies a 50:1 mix, or rather it will go up to that. Got to remember I doubt stihl and husky have an oil refinery so they will just buy it from someone who sells the same stuff under another label.

Depends on how well it was welded ie good penetration:blushing: and how thick the steel is. But any welding and heating wont do it any favours tbh plus if the bolts had been tighten up after they had been welded then that could have caused a stress fracture. If there is no damage to any of the anvil, casings etc in the machine ie the blades arent hitting anything then I wouldnt worry and just fit some new blades imo. As long as the bearings are good with no play at all and the surface the blades bolt to is even and not damaged.

You would have to have a lot of petrol evaporate before it caused a big problem. I use a semi synthetic 2 stroke. Cant remember the name but it isnt stihl or husky. Buy it in 25 litre drums and I think its less than half the price of stihl/husky stuff. Never causes any problems and all saws run really well.(well had a 200t or 2 with fooked bores but thats another story) They are all fairly good these days though and the engines in the saws we use arent exactly cutting edge technology.
