  1. Hi again. It's a bit of a funny bugger it dies on idle sometimes then on the odd occasion goes on full throttle without presssing the trigger all the way. usually on warming up then seems to settle. The other day when i was giving it a run it was running a bit lumpy, (not been used for a while ) when i tipped it onto its side while ticking over it went into full throttle mode.? Works for about 20 minutes runs a bit lumpy at first then works ok, then it will not start at all. untill cooled down fully. Not checked the spark plug when it die yet
  2. Has anyone got one of these spare lieing around doing nothing.? It's the blue case one i'm after. My saw starts conking out after about 20mins. Thanks Peter
  3. Andy , you're a true star, thanks ever so much for helping get my saw running again. Thanks again. Peter
  4. Cheers Andy, i'll be picking it up this week sometime, i think he said he wont bother rebuilding it, costs etc. When i get it back i'll PM you for your address and i'll let you have a look at it, thanks agian. Peter
  5. Thanks for the offer Andy, i'm sorry i missed this post before sending it off to seddons in bolton. Got the diagnostic back and it's the piston gone apparently it's grooved ( wrong fuel mixture did it ) Anyways £230 to replace piston and pot...EEK!! Have to get a new one and i'll keep the dead one for spares. damn that evil e-bay
  6. Thanks for the advice, it does turn over still, just hope it's not completely knackered. Have to let the experts have a look at it.
  7. Thanks for that tip JC. No, it didn't have 2 stroke fuel in it.
  8. Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone knows about this particular saw. I bought one second hand a few months ago, off flea-bay and bought it as spares repair, the guy said he had had it running and it just stopped one day, anyway it arrived and i noticed it had normal fuel in the tank( yep he sent it fueled up ) Thing is i cant get it to run at all, iv'e tried all the adjustments, cleaned fuel filter and air filter, and the bottom exhaust has been cleaned. Best i got was 10 seconds ticking over soon as i tried reving it, it just cut out and wouldn't even tick over after that. And, does anyone know of a good stihl servicer repairer in the north west.?
  9. Hi everyone. Great site you have here. I'm new to this industry, but have been about a little doing other, non related stuff . Just set up a small tree felling company in the Oldham area of greater manchester, and will need some help no doubt, looking forward to getting to know you all better. Peter
