  1. Seriously though would you? It sounds exactly like the mindset of an islamic extremist suicide bomber to me. Although it backs up my argument on justification brilliantly.
  2. I hear he is good mates with the 13th duke of wybourne.
  3. I would hope its not a silly thread! Discussing good/bad arb practices on an arb forum. Although it has descended into silliness but when in Rome.......
  4. .. ...on the bit about your wife:laugh1:
  5. What as in just felled some random tree for a laugh and no payment? No chance its against my religion to work without getting paid. The way I see it I can justify pruning, felling topping whatever because someone has asked me to do it as a job that I will get paid for. There is a reason why the tree is getting pruned. They assume I will do a professional job and spiking while pruning to me isnt professional. If its acceptable to spike because well we are already creating wounds by pruning then surely its acceptable to not bother finishing off a step cut, hinge cut maybe do the odd tear etc etc, I see no difference with any of the above tbh.
  6. Ahh I assumed he was an arborist, now I see he's just a climber/tree cutter.
  7. I thought it was one of those threads were you add to the story. Although he coulda just moved his greenhouse and saved all the hassle, and the life of poor old Bob!
  8. Compared to discussing if we should jail a naughty landowner who has some magic potion? Although I know what you mean.
  9. The line in bold in regards to this thread. But I class pruning as anything other than felling whether thats straight or section tbh, I guess.
  10. Because I mentioned them doesn't mean I put them in the same category! And what you've said I do above is exactly What you have done with my posts. Because spiking trees isn't the crime of the century and doesn't stop the world from turning means its ok then and why should we even care? But you know what blah blah blah blah blah,
  11. Ahh right cheers for clearing that up. Actually its deffo worth giving that a try out.
  12. I think it has to be in your T&C attached with your quote rather than the invoice. Otherwise people could change the payment requirements at invoice.
  13. I didn't know there was a point tbh. If I was the dury johny and the landowner would be slapped into jail. People need to take responsibility for their actions and realise just because they justify things in their mind doesn't make it right. Maybe the magic potion was made from a special type of sycamore that johny topped and spiked literally to death as his spikes had picked up some bacterial canker from some dead chestnuts he had removed the previous day. Not only was he responsible for the death because of the traffic hold up he is partly responsible for depriving the world of a magic cure. The landowner didn't ask him to spike and therefore kill his trees. Johny should be hung for his crime against humanity.
  14. I always knew everything you said was a fairy tale. Would the moral of the story change if little johnys wife wasn't I'll but wanted a bigger TV or expensive shoes? Or what I'd the land owner didn't want any trees pruning but asked johny to do some fly tipping or selling some class A drugs?
  15. No its an excuse not a reason. You are just justifying you actions, its what we all do when we do something that others don't agree with or think is wrong. Everyone has good reason for speeding, drink driving, stealing, fraud, drug dealing, not wearing there seat belt, charging old people more than the jobs worth, going through red lights, pollarding trees, doing tree in general etc, etc, etc, the list is endless. All the above make little or no difference in the grand s creme I'd things, but, they do make a difference. This is an arb forum and since using spikes while pruning is considered bad practice in general its not surprising that most on here won't see it as a reason.
  16. Oi! Stop fighting you will derail my thread! As soon as one thread gets derailed it wont be long before it starts happening on a regular basis. I'm liking the excuses though so carry on with that.
  17. Good to see someone actually finding out if theres any work rather than the usual "I have just got CSXXXXXXXXX tickets , theres no work around here can someone give me a job?" So top marks there and welcome:thumbup1: Only lads operating in your area or areas you are willing to work in can answer that tbh. Sorry cant help further but good luck. P.S if it was me retraining I would look at being a plumber, they are hard to find or at least find one that isnt up the wall with work!

    saw bars

It probably run better with an 18anyway since the 22might be too big depending in what type of saw it is . In general no bars aren't interchangeable between different makes. Oregon usually do bars for most saws. I was going to say they are your best bet but I prefer the stihl bars
  19. Has anyone had any calls yet in relation to the program? In all fairness though the trees were destroying the property. Generally then what is the approx depth that the majority of roots go down to? I also thought that it was very rare to find them under the foundations.
  20. Utter twoddle and gobbledygook I'm afraid. I'm too important and busy right now to give a proper reply. TTFN.

    Stihl 066

The air gap between the coil and flywheel should be something like 0.2mm. It does sound as though its knackered. You would get a nice spark with not much effort.

Disconnect the on/off switch wire from the coil and see if it sparks then. If not then there's your problem.
  23. For arguments sake yes it is. Speak to the land owner if you have any concerns. If you injure your self our someone else while moving the dead wood there could be trouble for the land owner and I'm sure you wouldn't wan't that.
  24. Hats off to anyone doing 8 hours or more hard graft every day:thumbup1:
  25. I thought he was using the file too high up on the side plate side. I think some pics of his chain would really us see what he's doing.
