My advice would be buy a single sided version, and don't buy the latest stihl hs 86 r or t I think it is. Sorry about not going into detail but there will probably be loads of differing opinions anyway mate.

Sounds like you could be making a rod for your own back tbh. The only way I could see anything being accurate is to sell by weight rather than volume. Which we know is useless but a 1000kg of logs is 1000kg of logs, air spaces, quality of stacking and also uniform sizes of logs (to help with the stacking) moisture content which would require some calibrated testers I pressume can be forgotten about. The best way is to sell in bags that are Xcm byXcm and loose loads that are approx X cube which is approx X amount of bags Xcm by Xcm. Well so I reckon anyway.

Its probably the reason why there aren't really many big tree firms, loads of small 2 man bands and why everyone seems to get fed up being an employee and go it alone unfortunately.

I would have thought there might be legal issue's with employees rights etc. Suppose it depends whats in your employment contract.

First time I have ever heard anyone mention that the grain of the fibres causes any problems with hinges tbh. Apart from the saving of doing a final cut for the stumpy(which worked well so good stuff:thumbup1:) I couldnt see any other time that this would be useful tbh. You have to have some decent pull on there to snap that cut ie winch, tractor skidsteer etc so surely there is no need as they have enough power to pull it over anyway without worrying of it sitting back. An theres no way you would want to be doing that to a straight/weighted fell imo. Plus once its going its going, theres no time to nibble away at one side of the hinge etc to direct it slightly. Maybe I'm missing the point but seems like a bit of faffing about tbh.

TBH I thought anyone applying for the job just on the basis of the description would be a few screws short of an Ikea flat pack.

It's a it of a poor industry when it would seem the vast majority of employees won't get paid if they can't work. Surprising since a lot seem to get 2-3 times the wages in day rates per man! Assuming everyone is telling the truth of course.

I changed insurance companies the other month. This one and the previous were only interested in turnover and allocating that turnover to percentages of work, ie how much was tree surgery, stump grinding etc etc. Not once has any of them asked if I'm certified. They were very interested in what locks and CCTV we had at the yard for plant insurance though. I wonder if its because there are so few claims for 3rd party damage its not worth asking? I did have a thread ages asking if anyone had had any bad experiences in getting payed out for 3rd party damage. IIRC there were none if any responses.

I think its a good way to retain a large species of tree close to properties and highways if done properly and regularly.

With the staining looks like an old crack to me. I would guess, oldish tree, newish house, severed/compacted roots with construction leading to the tree twisting and moving causing the cracks.

Thought this might be relevant with the odd few threads on insurance. Will prob just die of death though like the first time around!

Doesnt sound like nice neighbour but then maybe he wasn't happy about someone building a house a few feet from his property then complaining about the trees. I would say its tough on the new neighbour tbh. Heard too many times people complain about neighbouring trees when they have only just moved into the property.

Tbh if you are that bothered about wasted time and fuel why not just give him a decent sized saw from the start? I assume it's the same lad that nearly took his head off on the other thread.

Whip the glow plugs out and test them with some jump leads. Well I say whip but not sure how easy they are to do on your engine but its always the first thing I check on poor starting diesels.

Do many take chondroitin,glucosamine,MSM supplements at all? If so what do you think of them Ive been buying some and they aint cheap but do seem to help with a bit of joint pain I used to get in the wrist.
