1. Do many take chondroitin, glucosamine,MSM supplements at all? If so what do you think of them Ive been buying some and they aint cheap but do seem to help with a bit of joint pain I used to get in the wrist.
2. I'd say its the lift pump as they can be damaged if they are pumped without being bled, well some of them anyway. If the engine isnt worn ie good compression, the injectors have a good pattern and dont leak and it runs well after its started then I would be replacing fuel pipes, clips and filters as it sounds like an air leak. Air leaks on diesels can cause loads of problems and be difficult to find, they dont always leak diesel out of them unfortunately.
3. Ah right thought you had some nice new technique. TBH though fast cutting through really tensioned/compressed timber isnt something I do, I've seen enough stuff whip about, explode and generally move and do what it wants so its nice and steady with me on that one.
4. Come on then man! I'm always willing to learn something new.
5. If you are hardly going to use the chipper then I can see it working and financially its probably for the best. If you are going to be using it quite a bit then theres no way I would go halves plus surely if its getting used a lot it will be paying for itself fairly quickly. I would just by a good secondhand machine on my own rather than a brand new one and go halves. Hope it works out whatever you do.
6. £60 to get to B&Q and back! Must cost your missus a fortune when you do a bit of DIY.
7. Which type of can are you using? Not that I can help just wondering which is the best one to buy as I could do with a new one and the husky and oregon aint very good.
8. I agree there. I think it is more to do with the injuries we pick up along the way rather than the age. Dont forget, your only as old as the woman you feel.
9. Nope but thats why I can make an unbiased judgement. But I agree with what you say as thats what I said, they will not want you to go and will say that but it is the best thing for them.
10. Yup sry I did. Yep visit a dealer in England and sort it out.
11. Yeah I wouldnt listen to what children want as they are too selfish and unwise.
12. What is shagged out gear though? A 2 year old machine that has NEVER been serviced or a 15 year old machine running on song? I see way too often people critising others for running old equipment, why is this? Does anyone really use shagged out equipment when its fairly cheap to buy decent stuff second hand?
13. Is it cryptic clue night? I will instantly compress a piece of wood and you try to power through it while its compressed. I will win.
14. Ermmmm severly slap the people that request a 999 for that type of injury:thumbdown: No offence but its an emergency service and that wasnt one! Hope it heals well though, does look painful.
15. Best you explain it in detail please.
16. Run a new saw like you stole it! I have a 46 and 66 that wont die and run bleedin great. No need to replace them with something newer and unknown!! Although as Mr Blair said a new saw does smell nice.
17. Hows that work then? Nice1 in getting the tree down and dusted.
18. 35+ and your down hill, just look at athletes. Doesnt mean you cant do the job though just at a different and more experienced pace Anyone tells you any different and they are just old kidding themselves.
19. Would it not be worth getting a few other lads together who need some Stihl gear then take a little holiday over to the UK to have a handshake with a dealer? After that just order them in:thumbup:
20. You've made the decision and you will be financially better off which will no doubt help with your daughter. Its not something I could do (working away from home) put since its no bother to you just get stuck in:thumbup1: BTW I am assuming you have a job already lined up in London?
21. When did you get a WCL? No seriously though I agree there does have to be a minimum if as you say we follow the above. But, I dont think you can put a figure on the amount unless you be very specific about everything. You say £450 a day for 2 men but I know for a fact I can do it cheaper and others cheaper than me still. We would all be certified, insured, paying taxes running gear to HSE standards etc etc. One BIG factor is the time you put in, your day rate will be higher as you only work 3 days a week compared to my 5 compared to lads I know that basically work 7 days a week and much longer hours. I think we all need to not get hung up on someone undercutting us and thinking they must be taking cash and using nicked gear as seems to be the general opinion. I have seen people on here mention day rates that stretch from £100 per man per day right up to £1000 per man per day. Its best to just not worry and more importantly not slag people off for it.
22. You sure on that? I thought it was used mineral oil and used veg for that matter that was carcinogenic. Besides isnt bio worse for your health due to fungus and molds that live in it were mineral is inert?
23. Any comments from those who have tried the stuff you mix with water?
24. Ive been having a think and looking at what others earn on here and from next year I plan running a 2 man team at £50K a day and doing 2 days a year. If you can't earn that then it's not worth bothering IMHO. Anyhting less is just undervaluing the industry. It has nothing to do with your local economic market, how efficient you are, or anything silly like that.
25. I agree it would seem as though I am letting the side down. On a quick tot up I reckon I could get my hands on around 60k worth of finance (CC,overdraft loan etc) by the weekend. Now that would be nice bit of a spending spree before Chrimbo:laugh1: Although my favourite past time is most definitely sleeping, which I doubt I would get if I owed out some of the debts on here!
