  4. I would just concentrate on getting one cut right and then move on. If you dont feel ready to go forward for assessment then dont, your under no obligation to do the assessment until your ready. Too many candidates are put forward for assessment at the end of a course regardless of whether they are ready or not. Four days training is no time to learn so dont beat yourself up. Try a 60 degree sink cut you will see the bar easier when formimng the hinge and rember to operate the throtle with your thumb this will help gain level back cuts. All the best dave.
  5. I nearly got shot once:sneaky2:
  6. Slipped on some ice outside my garage last night, landed on my right hip and can barely walk now, just badly bruised i think but it bloody hurts.

    Student fees

Please correct me if im wrong but university's/students are heavily subsidised by the tax payer.

    Student fees

But how many people do you know that go to uni get a degree and then end up in a call center and never re-pay there loans due to earning below the re-payable threshhold. just a thought. I certainly know a few my best mate being one.
  16. This is my opinion to student fees due to recent events. I believe that everyone is entitled to free education upto the age of 18, so this would include upto school leaving age plus 2 years to take A levels or further education. For those who do not wish to take further education then an apprentice system should be made available were apropriate for 2 years. For those who wish then to go onto university I believe it should be self funded. My reasons for this are, if I want to invest in my buisness I have to borrow or earn to do so, this is calculated on the fact that it will be a good investment and that it will pay dividends. So if students feel that university would be a good investment for there financial future they should take the same risks and either borrow or earn the money to do so, this being a calculated investment. I know that there needs to be exceptions for some people, but these would need to be addresed on an idividual basis but for the majority I stand by what I think. Im not going to get into discusion about my beliefs, just wondered what other peoples feelings were.

    step cut

I fell so close to the ground no need to flush cut. And if i cant get it close to the ground i tell the customer to stick a plant pot on it:001_tt2:
  18. If the section was allowed to run 3-4 feet he needn't have moved. I don't disagree with you though there are times when it is good to re position, i just don't think it was necessary to have moved on this occasion:thumbup1:
  19. Or bad sharpening ie filing down into tie strap Or tie strap on the wrong way when made up. Rivet hole beveled on one side to accept rivet.
  20. tells a story when the climber feels the need to climb the stem @ 1.58 to be clear of a section. Imo that section should have been allowed to run this to me shows a lack of confidence in both his and his teams ability. However as promo vid to potential customers, i think it would do just the job. As a instructional video it would be filed alongside dadios too much bs:thumbdown:
  21. I once bought our lass a pair of wellies:thumbup: didn't go down well:thumbdown: However i was ahead of the game cos now hunters are in fashion. Im thinking riggers this year:lol: I do know that Bob bought his missus a single wiper blade once:lol:

    step cut

See absolutly no point of this cut on any of the trees you felled!! Simple felling tecnique would have done with maybe the aid of a wedge. Why add extra wieght to the pull rope buy having to break the step? What effect on the fell does this make once the seps released? :confused1:
