  1. No real science its just the most efficent way of removing the habbitat which the eggs and larvae thrive. The other benefit from burning is, it will also encourage new growth from the burn area, so along with thinning you can change the eco structure of the woodland by letting in light whilst freeing nutriants. However these days there is a need to be sypathetic to all the flora and fauna whist trying to improve the woodland so there needs to be a balance between tree, and woodland management.
  2. Huck you know you want one:lol:
  3. this is the quote from kiklees Virtually all of Kirklees is designated a Smoke Control Area and it is illegal to emit smoke from a building if the smoke is caused by the burning of unauthorised fuels such as wood or coal. Wood or coal can only be burned on an exempted appliance or alternatively smokeless fuels should be used. The delivery of wood fuel in a Smoke Control Area is also an offence.
  4. Bob got me one of them for crimbo.

  13. its your insurance that will have to pay as no member of the public was injured and the owner of said tree has not done anything to directly cause the accident. even if the owner has insurance to cover the tree they will simply wash their hands of it. however if its a council tree............

  21. I would suggest that if your on a day rate you need to clarify your working hours then you will know your hourly rate, you will have some idea of volume per hour this will give you some idea of what you are capable of earning. I would also try to get your employer to provide your fuel and oil, if he will treat this as a pay rise. You can go and earn £50 a day dragging brash from back gardens but working within the forestry industry even for poor money for a couple of years will give you a great grounding and loads of experience. With experience comes good money:thumbup1:
  22. oh my the very thought You can all give me sympathy on the newly named "Official 3dogs got man flu and gets no sympathy from the wife derail thread" oh how nice is calpol:thumbup:
