  3. theres nothing to stop tree teams getting together and running your own refreshers, provided you can locate relevant up to date info. You would just need to show evidence if an accident ever occured and hse got involved.

  8. vibration caused by inaccuracy in sharppening would most probably outway vibration caused by a worn sprocket. people should be taught to identify what is a worn sprocket and not given pointless ratios!!! there are to many variables in time taken for a sprocket to become worn chain tention, lubrication even types of timber (soft or hard)

  12. i broke my arm 2 years back, hse were on me like a rash. i was luky because everything was in order (risk assessments etc). i would'nt want to be on the wrong side of them!
  13. i dont have a link. but the change relates to hgv drivers i will post info on monday when i get my hands on it.
  14. professional drivers are now required to be refreshed every five years. so why not c/saw operators. we sell our services to the public so hse look differently at us, as apposed to joe blogs cutting trees in there own garden.

  16. hey up pete i forget to ring you back. was it important? i was taking a silver birch down and is was tipping it down wanted to get finished.
  17. Anyone who wants to go and fell trees of a diameter over 200mm (8") or wants to operate a chainsaw from a rope and harness will be required to take an nptc assessment. How you prepare for the assessments is up to you! It makes sense to use a lantra registed instructor as they now how to best prepare a candidate for assessment.
