  1. We should not interfere with nature? But we already did by introducing the non native grey squirrel!!! We are simply trying to return the balance, with the scales tipped heavily in favour of the reds:thumbup:
  2. let the buggers go in the middle of a large field and slipp the terriers. Not only does the squirrel die a quick death you get a bit of sport aswell:thumbup: Or just drown the buggers. Certainly wont loose any sleep over it:thumbup1: See you all in hell:sneaky2:
  3. I do hope that the old grumpys don't injure theirselves and become reliant on the state handouts or this thread might come back to haunt them!!!! Oh, but im sure they will say that they are only getting back what they paid in. Im quite sure that what they have paid in would soon be swollowed up.
  4. I had a customer today say that seasoned firewood should be cheaper as they go through it faster:confused1:
  5. Car tyre and some petrol . Put petrol in tyre - light petrol - then get trainee to kick tyre - Then spend all day laughing at trainee's singed eyebrows:lol:
  6. Taste like **** when the adrenalins up, they may well be a good reason he was shot. He was obviously a well known deer.
  7. Its a deer!!! Part of the food chain. If it was shot for the trophy good on them, as they say "it takes allsorts". Deer get shot everyday this one just happened to be a good story and probably get a few reactions. No doubt who ever shot it will now have to have police protection as bunny huggers will be out for blood now!!
  8. So you provide the wood and something to light it with:lol:
  9. check cylnder head bolts if theres a slight air leak it will cause the engine to accelerate. Had this problem with a 262 had me scrating my head for a while.
  10. I have just spoken to friend of mine who has had some dealings regarding this issue. His advice was to contact your husky dealer for clarification but the feeling is that the chain speed shown is a maximun chain speed when the saw has been modified from .325 pitch to 3/8 pitch and upping to an 8 tooth sprocket.
  11. I stand corrected. Husky 357 chain speed 21.4 meters per second.
  12. Each type of trouser will be tested prior to recieving classification and CE/EN markings. Chainsaw protective equipment is designed to prevent serious injury and will never offer 100% protection.
  13. Class 1 level of protection is 20 meters/second Class 2 24m/s Class 3 28m/s Which is more than adequate for a 357
  14. Its a push me pull me chain specifically designed for council workers you dont get anywhere with it:001_tt2:

    iphone apps

Virtual pint:confused1: or are you coming for a real one Bob:beer:
  16. Not moving forward with the saw:confused1: How do we ever get anything done:confused1: Imo its safe pactice taken far too literally, one step forward whilst progressing with the saw is acceptable practice this maywell be point 4 to point 5 or point 6 back into point 1. Whist snedding there is distinct difference to progression with the saw and aimlessley wandering about without the Chainbrake applied.
  17. I was thinking along the lines of:- Tecniques shown in this video will seriously damage your health!!!
  18. Ive not posted in a long while but feel compelled to post on this one. First and foremost the video shows nothing more than undercutting, it dosent need any more discription than that. To post a video of it and make it out to be some fancy technique is barmey. It requires only a modicom of skill, a simple step cut would suffice. In the right enviroment this tecnique has a place, this i am not disagreeing, however in all the trees shown a simple 1.6 ton tirfor rigged to a pully system would have done the job. We all know that our industry is not textbook and that we have to employ different techniques, which are done on a wing and a prayer in some cicumstances. To anyone without the technical experiense with hung trees stay well clear of this video. Steve this video thread should come with a severe health warning. Dave.
  19. i was crown lifting a beech when a chap stearnly asked if i'd got permision to fell the said tree, i simply said yes and he could see the paper work if he wished. He declined and began telling me he was a member of the green party and was going to speek to his local green party councillor because he was outraged at was happening. I asked him where he was from and he said batley which is a good 30 min drive from where we were working. It was'nt til he'd gone that it came to me, he drives his car for 10-15 miles each day just to walk his dog. And thats green!!! What a knob:thumbdown:
  20. Simple, just tell them that trees are made of wood and then begin to list everything thats made of wood that should kill an hour:thumbup:
  21. Therse only 3 ha of woodland he's gonna have some cold winters:001_tt2:
  22. How bigs that hinge:scared1: Proper foresters shoot the hinge, don't be ripping them stems. I don,t know whats the world coming to when tree fellers wear red boots, orange wellies are the only coloured boots propper wood cutters wear:lol:
  23. I would look at 10 year rotation with annual thinnigs to maintain only a few speiceis Ash oak silverbirch. Annual thinnings to open coppice growth and to remove sycamores. Is the woodland already in rotation plots or is that part of your plan?
  24. Whats the desired outcome for re-coppice? Is he wanting to be self suffient in firewood or does he want to sell? But even a 15 year rotation won't produce alot of firewood unless he's prepared to do some thinnings. Ive been working in a 2nd rotation coppice thats been left to go and there all whips 3-4" diameter 20' tall. Instant fire wood if you like but not great amounts.
  25. surplus to requirements. and im a size 10 and just bought some airstreams:thumbup1:
