    Thought of the Weibang? They are great mowers, the pro 56 roller version picks up in the wet brilliantly. Heavy though at 70kg odd

    The oil based bird brand superior wood preservative in green 5 litre tins, comes in different colours. Seems to repel water well. With decking try some fungicide wash first, Wickes sell an unbranded one which is cheap and works, brush off crud, apply that then use a decking oil, two coats and should be done every year if you can ?

    Have done, made a hook and rope holder for an old telescopic wolf pole, been great on some trees, a big lime full of epicormic that had been messed around with before a few months back I wouldn't have wanted to do any other way. Useful for setting tip rigging too sometimes. ?

    Someone who can tie a running bowline, knows what to tie on your line before you ask for it. Oh and can let the rope run!!

    Well done. They are great saws, my grandad had one new in 1983, regretted selling it for the rest of his life. Had a go with my 660 which in his words was "crap"?

    This post has made me feel much better! I'm good at throwing but crap with a throwbag! Took an hour and a half on a big pine once, cutting only took half hour when I got up there. At the end of the day the gardener on site said a big ARB firm had spent 4hours trying to get a line up and left the job. Wish he told me that when I was throwing! APTA now, makes it so easy (if you avoid hitting deadwood over greenhouses!)?

    Could be a knackered switch, but unlikely both forward and reverse be not working at same time. Maybe a loose connection?

    Is it the little black relay, clean or replace only a couple of quid at a local motor parts dealer ?

    Had same trouble with sugi bar on my 540, nose sprocket split with little use. I don't abuse my bars and I do greese the tip. Back on husky bar and no probs. Have good experience with the bigger sugi bars though

    Lucky it's only 2-3 saws most days. A two man team, would do my head in if I had a few gangs of guys and loads of saws etc to sort, don't know if I could sleep at night ?

    Always sharpen and blow out etc each night, like to know my kit will work nicely the next day?

    I did a large rsj/sleeper retaining wall late last year, loads of cutting, I used a large circular rip saw and double cut, an aggressive handsaw is also good, they are full of granite and the creosote in them also dissolves air filters, that's why I try and leave the chainsaw at home. ?

    I think this is the most unfair aspect of it. All under 3500kg GVW should be exempt in my opinion. There are a lot of rules and exemptions that can confuse. I assumed as it was old, commercial and diesel??

    I had to move some furniture for an in-law a couple of years ago with my old Hilux, didn't realize I had entered the zone as I always work local. Got a letter with a warning and informing me that next trip would cost me £100?

    On the 51 series Powershift or synchro? The synchro are normally cheaper but easier to repair, powershift nicer to drive both on and off road.

    Yep, lots of the yellow leaved Robinia have died round here over the last 7-8 years?

    Nope not Robinia, climbed those before this was totally different, mimosa type foliage from memory and smoothish bark

    Anyone tried Acacia? I remember in 2005 taking one down in a town that was only 12 years old and the dbh was around 24 inches from memory! Wasn't particularly tall but had a lot of wood in it.

    Ladders are brilliant, make me more inclined to come down for a break when reducing as can be left up normally, would aid with aerial rescue and hopefully speed things up, especially if you have a non climbing groundie?. Also makes it easy for the groundie to bring you a cup of tea up into the tree.??
