  1. The beech trees at Chatsworth are magnificent, are they situated up the back of the house on the hill? Some truly incredible specimens there whoever can take this on will have a great experience, I would but had a cortazone injection into my shoulder yesterday and fel as if I've been stabbed! painful injection that one!
  2. I did a season pollarding all the london planes in Plentzia, a stunning fishing village on the Bizkaian coast. We used air powered secatuers, silkys and 200t's for the big stuff. all arisings were stacked in piles and later picked up by truck. I presume it went on to be used for something, after that I got invited to go and help with a gang who had a pear orchard to harvest it for 2 weeks. hard work but repeyed with great banter, black water(vino tinto), wild boar sardines for breakfast etc etc. Very cool, I love the Spanish and in particular the Basques.
  3. Always the silky that bites! Use iodine on it daily it will heal quicker.
  4. :ridinghorse:What about a film? I'm sure Tarantino would be up for it
  5. Good advice from all, especially Rupe, you will only learn how to truly climb when working with an experienced climber as their groundie, there is a lack of people out there with HGV and pre 97 licence so this will give you an advantage. You can come in qualified to the hills but experience and time served with a good firm is worth its weight in gold. Good luck
  6. Hi woody, I see you are after a climber, I would be interested in taking on freelance work with you however I am not available at the moment until mid march/april. I am near Faversham and travelling is no problem for me. If you are interested let me know back.

  7. Monkeyd, Yes it is a complete graft between the two stems, quite incredible and a natural brace for the tree which did have a tight fork. Shame to lose her however on site there are more mature and impressive specimens, also a fantastic Ash there. I think my colleague may have some shots of it standing if so will post some up for you. I always try and pass on butts etc to millers and turners seems a waste to burn it all, it's one thing to lose the tree but if it can be turned into something of use then its life and beauty can be appreciated in a different way. Thanks marc for your input too. Dave
  8. Hi, I was wondering if there are any takers for this trunk. It is approx 6 metres long and about 80cm at butt. The trunk is situated near Canterbury and my usual buyer has sold his machinery and moved into a different market. Be a shame to cut it up for logs so anyone interested please reply. Cheers Dave
  9. I'm with the Zubat too. cracking saw the handle on yours seems larger too.
  10. don't really have any intention of entertaining them, i thought as they said there were many Arbs with them then there would be someone on here. From the vacant replies I will inform them that obviously they have no "proper" firms with them so take a flying!! Good to see the pub was good rupe, what's your tipple are you an Ale man?

  24. Hi booney, Have taken your number as I may well use your service. Just 2 questions you say kent and sussex does that mean all kent and sussex in the price? also if it was to go onto your truck (the chip) is there any additional cost, seeing as it is for your use then I presume not? Dave
  25. £150 is a good price, I think that as the season will have a demand for good logs then you can get £175 for it.
