  1. Agree. I found that when I became a Ltd Co I started getting a lot more bigger jobs for other companies, they just assume that you're more professional - if only they knew!!
  2. Erm...... think you'll find plenty that do! Take a look at Buxtons, Abbey Pro, Gustharts - all sell screwgate carabiners for climbing.
  3. Not in my experience! BT are useless down here, electricity board are spot on though:icon14:
  4. If I was a council employee I would want to use a MEWP - you might aswell, it doesn't matter to you that the job will take longer and cost more - you'll just have an easier day at work for the same money!
  5. How come so many arb suppliers sell screwgate crabs for climbing if they don't meet h&s requirements?
  6. Shouldn't be charging VAT if not reg'd. If you are registering for VAT you can claim back the VAT on capital expenditure for the last 3 years - but you don't add VAT to every invoice you have wrote in the last 3 years! Is this guy saying that the extra 17.5% he is charging is VAT - or is he just charging an extra 17.5%?
  7. So how much does a safety inspection cost?
  8. How often do you have to carry out safety inspections on your lorry? I bet the cost of these start to add up over a year?
  9. Yes, they are good value - but they were even better value when they were Entec.
  10. 27hp Kohler, I think.
  11. A mate of mine bought one last year - cost around £8500 + VAT. The only thing is the petrol Timberwolfs now come with a 20hp Honda instead of the 25hp Kohler - and they're now only 5" capacity instead of 6".........and they've even lost the bonnet!!
  12. Anyone on here got any experience of applying for an operators licence? I would like to add a 7.5 tonner to my fleet, but would need to keep it at home. Can an operating centre for an hgv be in a residential area - or do you need an industrial type place to keep it? Any advice would be welcome:icon14:
  13. I did a job for Christopher Robin last week.
  14. I did the windblown course a few years ago. Anyone who has been in tree work for more than a few years will find it easy - there's nothing in the course that an experienced tree worker couldn't figure out for themselves. Basically, take your time and think through what you're about to do and you'll be fine.
  15. Climbing with a blakes hitch instead of a prusik is a nightmare, very time consuming.
  16. All I ever use is my climbing line and a seperate prusik loop, not much to go wrong with this method.
  17. Careful!! - Pete McSensitive will give you a warning for that remark!
  18. Nice tractor Tom, looks a useful bit of kit. Which Greenmech have you got?
  19. I sent a trainee on the CS30/31 course last October - 5 day course + seperate assessment. Think it cost about £550 in total.
  20. Is 'Boyce Autos' still in Lewisham??
  21. Cool!! that's where Boycie lives!
