  1. No, but then my face doesn't get burnt to a crisp like a baldies head does!
  2. I was owed £1300 by a small ltd co that went bust a couple of years ago. The MD was a complete arse about it until he found out that the house his brother lived in was owned by me and the gift shop that his cousin leased was also owned by me. Strangely enough paying me my money became a priority!
  3. If you're sweating your nuts off with a shaved head then it obviously makes no difference if you've got long hair or not. If you've got no hair then your head must look like a frigging beetroot after a couple of days in the sun! You wouldn't get this problem if you had hair on your head - that's why it grows there: to protect you.
  4. I've had long hair since I was about 14. Never been a problem in any respect. Don't know why so many tree surgeons have long hair though, is it because we're a load of tree hugging hippies at heart?
  5. Depends how big your chipper is, at 1850kg my 10" Greenmech weighs more than one of those Pinin things!
  6. If you're not going to be using a chipper (either buying or hiring) I wouldn't even bother with tree work!
  7. Either - just keep it sharp:icon14:
  8. Soon as the music starts you just know it's been filmed in America!!
  9. From the little that you've said about your situation I'd say a 3.5t tipper would be best (cabstar, transit, etc...)
  10. yeah that's it. there are actually removable teeth on the cutter wheel.
  11. So in other words about as much use as a chocolate tea pot:wave:
  12. Just had an info pack sent to me to tender for a large woodland maintenance contract. They've asked for all of my Health & Safety Methodology Documentation. What should I include in this? I've got risk assessments and method statement, don't know what else there could be.
  13. Found this video clip, looks like it gets the job done - probably just takes a while! [ame] [/ame]
  14. My licence has no mention of the pre 1997 8250kg bit. When I was employed 7 years ago I drove a 7.5 tonner with a 3.5 ton timber trailer most days. Still, what ever it is it's better than having a car licence issued nowadays!
  15. Scottish and a student - you're going to have one slim wage packet!!
  16. Glad I passed my test in 1995! Just looked at my licence, it says I can drive a 7.5 tonner (C1) or a 7.5 tonner and trailer with a combined weight of up to 12 tons (C1+E)! Am I right in thinking that a newby driver can't even drive a car with a trailer of more than 750kg?
  17. This is the 9hp @ £2500, do you reckon it looks any better?
  18. Anyone got any experience with one of these? It's a Power Mec stump grinder with a 5.5hp honda engine. Weighs less than 50kg and costs just £1400! They do a 9hp model that looks a bit more substantial but costs £1100 more. I'm just looking for a cheap and cheerful light weight stump grinder, as I've had a few requests for this sort of work recently. I reckon at £1400 it would soon pay for itself - what do you lot think??
  19. It's not a case of what you need - a bigger chipper just makes chipping a darn site quicker and easier. What reason would you not want a bigger chipper for??
  20. This is a farmer we're talking about?? I doubt very much whether most farmers would bother applying for a change of use just for someone to store a few logs.
  21. £700 per quarter would pay a £45k mortgage! imagine what you could buy for that.
  22. How about we nuke Iraq and Afgahnistan and use the space for growing crops?
