  1. Out of interest what was the maximum outreach on the mog
  2. Got a photo today of the splitter in the "transport" position. Please excuse the finger
  3. It's probably cost a couple of hundred quid in parts, the main cost is Labour. It can be used for anything now, it has two quick attach ports so anything you want to run it will run, I reckon it's doing around 50 lpm so will run lots of things The splitter weighs 350 kilos, it tilts back but tends to wheeling a bit if you reverse uphill which Ballast weights will sort
  4. Played with the splitter for an hour today and video,d a small clippit Needed to do a couple more mods to strengthen the frame that mounts the lift ram. Tried the splitter on low revs and it coped very well, high revs it was very fast. But low revs is what I was after. Plenty of splitting power an the two stage pressure system works as well as the built in Thor system ( which I have bypassed for now) you can see the ram comes down onto the log fairly fast and slows onto a power stroke then speeds up again when less power is needed. 5. I also think that besides a breakaway cable, trailers should also have a chain link attachment to chassis same as in the US
  6. Sorry to pish on the parade but I hope it comes in. You only have to buy a plant trailer off ebay to find out what shite there is being towed around britains roads. If people took more responsibility about there equipment there wouldn't be any need to force them to
  7. On the plus side Barney, you,ve doubled your post count.
  8. I manage to get enough work to be able to afford chainsaw trousers working normal hours whilst sober thanks
  9. It's a technique we Yorkshire folk used to use when we were interrogating suspected spies from down south before the north south divide border was dismantled and free movement allowed
  10. Why? Don't you think that's underhand and therefore dishonest trading. Doing an excellent job at a fair honest price is what wins me repeat work not putting in a cheap price to make others look expensive
  11. No mention he drove, just assumption, if he did drive then he needs his goolies tying in a knot, then smearing with dog food and ferrets let loose on them
  12. Then why mention it ? You mention something in your post you open it up for debate. I personally would not go out on call out after drinking, it's irresponsible to say the least. It also is not just about him, it's about being in a fit state of mind to protect the public, people around him and their property. Ps. Even if a builder or any tradesman turned up at my house to do any type of job smelling of beer I,d sack him there and then
  13. If the galv is good it should last indefinately as Treequip says. Jimmy heseldine was the inventor, he was a very wealthy man but he didn't make his millions selling the gabions as retaining / landscaping stuff. He made his money when the military took them on as flat pack blast walls. They could be shipped to Afghanistan for example into the desert, assembled, cloth bag inserted and filled with sand, hey presto, you can build a camp in the middle of the desert almost over night
  14. Just as an interesting point, I did a load of tree work at the home of the bloke that invented the gabion basket before tragically died. He was the most kind hearted and friendly bloke I ever had the privilege to know
  15. The rights and wrongs of hunting foxes has been done to death, I've been debating it for over 20 years. Why does it always descend into right or wrong. People want to post their pics of a day out with the hunt, they should be able to do so without the slagging off. I know many who attend hunts that have never seen a Fox in their lives, they go simply for an exhilarating ride which they get access over land they would never normally get to go over Tolerance is lacking where it chooses to be
  16. I used UTO in my tractor which was a kubota with HST transmission and it wouldn't change gear till it warmed up
  17. 32 grade will cover all working temperatures in the uk and is the most common used. Just go for a good quality fully synthetic http://www.hfifluidpowerproducts.com/Pages/Hydraulic-Fluid.html
  18. That's a lot more than a band five staff nurse gets who does long hard hours and has to have a degree under their belt and who doesn't have time or the energy for a second job
  19. The 100 series is the benchmark to beat and currently there is nothing on the market that comes anywhere near.
  20. Is that the main stem the dog is sat by.... A MEWP for that
  21. You can wear suspenders too if you like, as long as it doesn't affect your splitting rate
  22. They used my mates 22 tonner to peel back the roof on his container, all for a bucket full of stone chisels, they were druggies
