  1. The 600 series is storming, the 700 series is even more storming (-:
  2. I,ll pass all mine onto you then.. People who phone business,s expecting them to answer the phone for non emergency work during unsociable hours are selfish and ignorant. Nine times out of ten they turn out to be nobs anyway, your welcome to them I,ll stick with my decent, thoughtful considerate customers thank you
  3. It's turbo whistle, quite normal on the 880,s
  4. Work phone Private phone Works for me, whether you should be grateful of the enquiry or not...you need time off. If you don't set barriers you will regret it and stress will get the better of you, you may not realise it till it's too late. If you want to know what I mean by that ask Andy Collins I get people telling me when I moan about it that I should be greatful I have the work coming in. I've worked very hard to get my name known in a good way, by doing good jobs correctly, politely and with respect. Sitting by the phone and answering calls at all hours of the night is not what I call good business
  5. Did this a while ago http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/29008-deanos-been-taking-notes.html
  6. No thanks Pete, I,ve had my fill of working on Bedfords
  7. Only time my dogs get ticks is when they have been where sheep are or have been
  8. Not sure about pressure yet, I have a tester but didn't run it as there was water in the diesel tank and other little problems, so decided to just get on with it and get it fully serviced and cleaned before. It may be a while but I,ll keep the post updated as we go with flow rates and pressures. On the main pump there's actually 4 outputs. One drives the steering, one drives the wheel motors, and two hydraulic pumps bolted on the back with two seperate outputs The two pump outputs will be piped in together with a flow diverter so I can switch from one feed to two feeds together. The steering output will be unused as it will be a low pressure low flow and the wheel drive will be left connected so I can move it about the yard under its own steam. You could even mount a horizontal splitter across the front of it
  9. Not a hope ..and it was a perfectly serviceable mower beforehand .
  10. I don't know why I torture myself, I just find challenging projects very satisfying. Project is to buy this three gang mower with a nice Kubota engine and hydraulic circuits, rip all the fancy hydraulic circuits back to a basic flow, return and bypass. Then take out all the electrical circuits, relays and safety circuits that control the removed hydraulic system back to another basic electrical system with low oil level safety cut outs etc. It's going act as a mobile self driven hydraulic power pack to power my log splitter to free up the loader, I'm leaving all the drive hydraulics in Pictures show from start to stage I am at now which is hydraulic circuits out and all looms cut open and needless electrics removed. All I need to do now is rewire everything to a made up control panel, with temperature, volt gauges and warning lamps Last picture shows the 25 hydraulic pipes I've removed
  11. I also hired one of these, you get the concrete somewhere near level then go over it with this, it vibrates the air out and shows up any hollows, then just shovel a bit extra into the hollows. I tamped it crossways, then tamped it longways and it made it dead level very easy with no effort http://belle-group.co.uk/index.php?p=products&id=283
  12. I just played safe on my drive, and poured five full wagon loads at 9" thick with reinforcing mesh three inch up off the floor. You never know when someone might turn up in a challenger tank to visit you, always be prepared is my motto
  13. I think someone who takes time out to study his trade ( very few do ) and gain extensive knowledge, whether they back that up with a piece of paper to say they have done it or not should be classed as professional. There are a lot of people in the industry that are only interested in cutting trees and are very skilled and knowledgable in all aspects, rigging forces, tree dynamics, loads leverage forces etc etc, they have taken time out to study it. There are also lots of people who know all the above plus the biology of trees, pests, disease, soil chemistry, diagnosis etc etc There are people that take it a step further and study mycology on top Then there are people that just want the money out the job, they are not interested in how a tree works, cause and consequence, they don't even know a basic pruning cut, if mrs biggies asked them to prune her apple tree they would just top it, they go to work, cut trees, go home put their gear away and that's it. Many people have a library of expensive books, they spend time study and gaining knowledge ( being on arbtalk is one of those methods of gaining knowledge) and actually take an interest in their trade and are always eager to learn more. What really niggle me is people thinking that the only way of expressing knowledge is through a piece of paper saying you have studied and passed an exam. Those exam results can have a pass rate as little as 50 to 60 %, which to me is a joke Degrees now are handed out like smarties and don't have the prestige they used to have which is a shame. I see many people with degrees that would have trouble changing a fuse in a plug. My mate, after thirty dot years as a tree surgeon had to do his NPTC chainsaw ticket to comply with his insurance, he spent 2 years at college when he started in 1979. Trees, rigging, forces, dynamics, diseases, treatments, diagnosis, mycology etc etc, take a lifetime to learn, to say someone isn't a professional , just because they don't have formal qualifications is quite a bigoted point of view
  14. Funniest I ever saw was a bloke running across the road straight into the overhanging ladders on the top of a small van. He picked himself up and looked round to see if anyone had seen him
  15. To be honest, if she wouldn't have been pregnant, it would have been difficult to establish whether it was male or female
  16. On one job a pregnant woman (chav) decided she wasn't going round and was going to come through the cordoned off area, I told her she wasn't, she told me she was, I told her she wasn't, she told me she was and to watch. I had to physically stand infront of her with my arms out blocking her as she was trying to push her way round me. Eventually she gave up an told me to F off, she was going to get her hubby to beat me up
  17. Your obviously taking far too many tea breaks Stubby
  18. It only looks fearsome because your not used to it, the more you use it the more accustomed to it you'll become and you'll build up the muscles needed in time
  19. I,m gradually moving over to husqvarna anyway, three of my big saws are now husqvarna and when my two top handles die, they will be replaced the same. I for one will not support a company that thinks it can dictate how it's end users buys it products
  20. The wife goes mad and is fed up of clearing up, she leaves it now till someone else clears it up which gives me chance to go for a world record, but then she goes soft and clears it up ruining my chances of ever making the Guinness book
  21. Yes Jon, keeps bringing it in, each time I put it out the way the hedgehog comes back in the garden and the dogs bring it back in the house
  22. You get to see all sorts of wildlife close up
  23. They still have a nice purrrr
  24. I have acquired six nice bright yellow gas board barriers today, legally too Should stop rogue cyclists penetrating the work zone
