    Very true. I have been sat in a hide, with pigeon decoys out on the edge of a private woodland facing a private 50 acre field and had the helicoptor and armed response there. Twice !! Despite coming out and guesturing to the helicoptor it's OK

    I would have lost my job then through my actions, I would have glady resigned knowing I had used my common sense and risked my own life to save others. Not hidden spinelessly behind rules for fear of having a book thrown at me whilst I stood there watching helpless people being slaughtered

    Tony: What I meant was, how many give enough of a toss to write a caveat, never mind prune a tree properly Mark An LA tree failed in Huddersfield last year killing a child. I'm sure following investigation will have covered when and who carried out any pruning works or what caused the failure and I sure if the failure was caused by a bad pruning wound the LA would have been trawled over hot coals. Infact I know the limb was taken away for inspection Nowadays everyone is looking for someone to blame, I have experienced that first hand twice

    It has been driving me nuts. It said the police who were at the first scene were unarmed. Why didn't they arm themselves with a car and run him down. They followed in a car, why didnt they ram him off the road or into a tree. Why did they stop and lose him to see to a victim, when others were seeing to him. I think all armed police should only be ex forces

    I wouldn't bet on it.. You are professional and should know better.. You would have to have it in the terms and conditions on the back of your paperwork as a verbal warning to your customer is hard to prove

    Lets be realistic Tony, how many actually give a toss enough to care about the tree, most are only interested in money in their pocket. I know if I were a customer that had had a tree pruned 10 years previous and the tree shed a limb form or around the old pruning wound I would point my finger straight at the so called professional Tree Cutter should Mr Where's there's blame came knocking at my door

    You mis-understand, its not about balance, it is about creating a large wound and consequently a pocket of rot, which then, in time creates a weak attachment point for the other two limbs. Tree work previosly was not very well documented, but we increasingly leave paper trails and therefore more liable to be traced in the event of a claim in time to come

    Have you ever tried running without moving one of your arms, its hard work The trees will disagree with your theory, they will if left alone always try and balance back up. Nature always wins in the end.

    Sandy Run the machine when you get it and make sure the shaft bearings are ok before you buy a head , dont want to be spending any more money needlessly

    Explain as best you can Mick and try go for complete pollard (with tonys sugge3stion of leaving long stubs or complete removal. To cut back to the junction might leave you with a possible law suit in future What I d tell em is that it will cause a pocket of rot and make the other two limbs attachment points weak in future which could possibly come back and bite you in the form of a law suit in future They would ask you to drop yourself in it would they...............or would they?

    All mine does is have the spool valve mounted vertically and the weight of the handle pulles the spool valve down operating the up stroke, when the blade comes up it hits a lever that pushes the spool back to centre

    Bobs collapsed because of all the flasks of tea it had to carry, as a result council employees can now buy a beefed up piece of equipment for getting the tea urn into position

    Haaaa, I have the same problem but its with them coming in late from night clubs etc. I was out on the canal with dogs and bike at 5.30 Think I'll do some logs then have a kip later
