  1. The brummel is mainly used on hollow braid I believe I'm only a beginner I'm sure someone will come along and explain
  2. I've never seen a duck in a tree before David, except after it's been shot and got hung up
  3. Rupe would have used his arsenal of pulleys though !! Not a piddley two pulleys.
  4. Haven't seen one of those in a Puzzler before, new type of crossword ??
  5. Just had to clean the dribble off the steering wheel of the truck after they woke him from his slumber
  6. I'm not aportioning blame here, the woman was to blame apparently. I'm astonished the bloke should be praised after such a huge blunder and not noticing the mayhem unfolding around him. His comments after he pulled over were along the lines of, "Do you need me to hang around, I need to get on"
  7. I need some twine Bob I'm very happy to borrow your set of splicing instructions Bob, dont know why I didn't, did I miss something. Splicing lesson might come along when I nick my tachyon again ?? I'll not be using it for a while, no doubt I'll speak to you soon. Going to start footlock practice a couple of times a week, good way to keep in shape I reckon, or get in shape should I say
  8. It was a couple of years The distance was exactly 1728 miles. I used to be a fisherman
  9. The last truck I drove was a brand new iveco 18 tonner 3000 miles to bulgaria, I mustn't have run over any cars on the way because I never saw a load of people hanging out of their car windows screaming and shouting at me. The guy should have been aware what was going on around him, he should have noticed cars coming onto the slip, what was on the slip and their whereabouts after. He must have notice the car in his nearside mirror then must have wondered where it had gone ???
  10. She sounded her horn again and again, other drivers tried to get his attention and failed, other cars sounded their horn......
  11. As a test to get his license back they should throw a bus infront of him, see if he notices that
  12. A footlock strop is just an extra long eye to eye prussic cord which you use as a friction hitch to ascend a static line by footlocking up it. Perhaps someone may have a picture ??
  13. You amature !!!. I cant believe you didn't move the washing
  14. No it doesnt, if that had happened to me and I hadn't noticed, I'd hand in my HGV myself. He's a moron Stevie, the woman driver was ok, but he pushed her down the motorway a very long way before eventually people flagged him down. Like you say, all it needed was one of the wheel rims (which were ground away) to dig in and flip the car and he'd have flattened it completey. For someone to get away with that is ludicrous
  15. I dont care whether she cut him up or not........... It's outragous that a man who doesn't notice he is pushing a car down the motorway infront of his truck manages to get praise for keeping his cool and manages to keep his hgv. I'm enraged !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie2oG4pFrXk]YouTube - Lorry driver gives car a push.. at 60mph[/ame]
  16. I've got some Samson Ice tail to make a footlock strop out of and I'm going to splice two eyes in using brummel and a short bury. A few questions: Getting the length of the strop right.... last time I measure up underneath my chin and doubled it which was about right when the termination knots were put in, I think it was 1.6m doubled which gave me a length of rope to start with of 3.2m. Is there a rough formula or guide for footlock strop length or is it try and see? Secondly, the Brummel... Is it enough to send the long end through form your eye then send the short end through and bury or do I need to send the long end through a second time, I've just tried it with just one of each and it's solid as a rock. How short a bury can I get away with if I lockstitch the bury, I'm planning on a 5 or 6 inch bury which seems pretty long. I'll take some pics later for those of you that are lost later so the above makes a bit of sense
  17. Amatures Mark. take them elsewhere
  18. Far too many birthdays on here ! Have a good one Bob and I bet you worked your birthday
  19. Haha....thats more like it Josh, much better when you get someone else on the camera
  20. And so they should Dave, it was rediculously hot on my London visit and that was in the middle of winter, I was down to my T shirt at one point.
  21. At Fartown lights Mike, the road that goes right if you are travelling towards Hudds. You dont hear anything about them in the news now, its that much the norm, there's far too many wanna be gangsters that are still in their nappies in the Hudd Sad
