  1. Two week ago I did three landrover loads in 6 hours including delivering locally so flat out about a load every hour and a half
  2. Got bored so went down to the yard to put some money in the bank. Thor 20t 4 way knife converted to operate one handed because I found it more dangerous trying to hold logs in place with your knee or your belly [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejzyD4Yk65I]YouTube - Modified Thor 20t logsplitter with 4 way knife[/ame]
  3. Dont do it Steve, you'll start getting all sorts of complaints from the Hull area
  4. I stuck a bit of butter in it Mick and a pinch of salt
  5. I've been considering going from Lockjack to VT. I've been on lockjack for 4 years now and it has big drawbacks against the vt. The lockjack is no good for feeding out when you want to swing out and down to get across to another branch, there's not enough smooth control. I have also found it jerky....on the plus side the LJ is compact where the VT/HC combo is bulky and cumbersome
  6. There's two things that make your teeth fall out. Kissing girls and eating stuff like that
  7. Do you mind, we're having a decent convo here ...
  8. At least I'm not so skinny that I can be big shotted into the tree
  9. Little and often John, your better touching them up every couple of hours on finger teeth rather than having to grind loads off to square a rounded edge. Grinder and diamond disc though
  10. Ed, I'd also have a spare alternator on standby mate, they go not long after abusing them by submerging in muddy water
  11. You should have a minimum charge anyway, mine is £50 -60. Then ontop of that I reckon on £60 per hour nice and steady plus a set of finger teeth and juice By your reckoning Ian you'll end up charging £30 for a 10" stump that could be down steps and across 50ft wide flower beds
  12. Owen (Treeworker) explained something like that to me once, couldn't remember though
  13. Shouldn't that braid alternate Frank, top leg over top of lower braid then under then over, you've got over, under under
  14. Dont you find over the phone quoting a bit nhit and miss Dave, or do you just say thats a rough idea ?
  15. The Bullerjans are efficient at around 70% but the Dunsley Yorkshire is better still at 75%
  16. Rear shocks must be too long if your dislocating. You haven't been using your work truck to go playing in have you, that is very bad. That truck is for earning money, not playing
  17. No, I mean expensive, he wasn't winning any jobs...
  18. Just one little thing John, dont tell the customer you own the machine if your taking something down and they ask for it grinding, they expect it done for nowt. If it s a small weedy stump just tell them you will only charge the hire of the machine which is £50-60
  19. A Stumpguy I know has given up on per inch pricing, it always works out expensive, he has gone to an hourly rate plus teeth. Most stumps you can look at and go "Eeerm, that'll be £100" ..and it will take you half hour of grinding
  20. My first act as PM would be to give Tree Surgeons 100% tax relief on their earnings and free beer for life.
  21. I wasn't sure Bob, I had to get two Elm specailists in to check it and confirm it for me
