I have the same problem with my 341, I think its a known problem and there is a new type airfilter, I'd just ring stihl tech dept and ask, they may send you a freebie Husqvarna sent me a free carb

I loved tattoos but now at 46 wish I didnt have them. I reckon if you want them, keep them where you can hide them I reckon neck, face and hand tattoos portray a bad image to many people. Whether its right or wrong to stereotype matters not, the fact is it happens and tattos will do you no favors in life and it will be later in life when you will need all the "good first impressions " you can muster

I didnt take into account resale value Josh because it would not be worth a lot to me and you would benefit more by chopping it in every three or four years to take advantage of depreciation for tax purposes

I didn't, I just took it straight to where I bought it from. Was going to put it on ebay but sidestepped the hassle by taking it to the dealer. He gave me £14,000 and the mini which was £6K, I would have got £21.5K on ebay but probably a load of greif as well. He'll have it up next week at £24.5K

No worries mate, I can make more if I choose to but I dont. I only choose to work 3 days a week actual tree work and that included 1 month off over xmas I earn enough money to live comfortably off and the rest gets ploughed into the business, I have or had a Landcruiser Amazon, a landroverr, a brand new chipper, an 18m tracked mewp, 2 acres of prime land and all my kit is as new. If you invest youir money, you can make a smaller profit and not pay as much in tax. Invest it rather than give it to the taxman

I have had to make a business decision that involved radical change. I've just sold my Landcruiser Amazon which after analizing my books was costing £200 per week to run and bought the skateboard below which should cost about £50 per week I couldn't have gone for a more extreme change, from one of the biggest cars on the road weighing in at 3 tonnes to one of the smallest weighing in at around 1 tonne Dogs were not too happy. Anyway, one less day per week needs to be worked now so things should be less hectic. 1st pic the Amazon, 2nd the skateborad and the rest was some of the stuff in the showroom of the place that bought the amazon. Thats were most tree firms fail, they are good at tree work but rubbish in business, they do not calculate costs correctly. They end up with knackered chippers with no money to buy new or just always have clapped out equipment that breaks down time after time Putting in a cheap price will come back and bite your ass

Mine does about 100 hours per year because I stack brash and never have the chipper running for prolonged periods with nothing going through, I think a running chipper with nothing going through is like a car sat at lights with the foot hard on the throttle I have my basic day rate and when I price a job I guage how much chipping will be to do and add on accordingly

I did a thread on it I think quite a while ago; You can only calculate chipper costs on an hourly running cost not per day. My chipper sometimes only runs 10 minutes some days I think my calculation went something like Chipper cost £18,000 Epected hours before renewal 2000 18,000 divided by 2000 hrs = £9 per hour service cost every 100 hours @ £120 = £2400 or £1.20 per hour Fuel £10 per hour Blades £4.50 per hour based on 30 hours use sharpened after 10 hours and costing £90 to buy I worked out that if I charge £30 per hour or 50p per minute running and put that money aside. I would after 2000 hours have enough money to pay for a new chipper, it's fuel and service costs over its service life And that is only covering cost, so realistically a chipper should be charged out at a minimum of £35 per hour running time

The problem is now that whoever did the copper nails and ringbarking will be going around now spreading the word that it now works. So the word will now spread round that ringbarking is the answer if you want a tree down. I personally would have put up a notice on the tree for a week beofre it came down explaining the consequences of their action putting the local residents in danger and also risking prison for criminal damage and also a fine of around £20k See if they were as keen to brag then

Its not big enough Its adjacent to an old pruning wound, but it doesnt look big enough for wood pecker. I reckon a woodpecker has explored the hollow and a bluetit have used the excavation

Things you buy that you can relate to business are quite obvious and I claim for them already. What I am after is the less obvious non purchase, in other words things you do not need to provide a receipt for or allowances such as the allowance of £5k for the wife to have a part in running the business. ..and such as the wear and tear on the washing machine if thats a genuine one
