  1. At last Gareth, someone sensible cheers mate.
  2. 20 odd year old nags more like
  3. Mortgage ??? Is that some new fangled thing is it, mustn't have reached us up north yet
  4. So are you like the cuckoo then and just move into someones elses cave
  5. They are all stone, he is a stone mason. He has just come back from bulgaria for a 12 month break and is knocking them out cheap, the bigger troughs command about £300 but he is selling for around £100 -120 I think and is open to offers for the job lot or a purchase a bulk buy. Just doing something whilst over here I'm going to buy the seat and a round trough I reckon, last one I made and ended up giving it to the mother in law, it's worth about £200 now
  6. One of the reasons we held getogethers round here John was to do away with the "look the other way and dont wave " mentality As a result, the more social arbs around here bounce work of each other and help each other out, share tip sites the lot, it works very well There is still the odd ignoramus but it is their loss, they dont realise how much they are cutting their own throats
  7. If anyone wants something and is local I can pass on his email or number
  8. I was told the WCL was for "special" people Rupe I've always thought you were special
  9. But scrap is waste, it is covered in a PVC coating in the case of copper or carries CFC's in the case of refrigerators, there are lots of scrap that have contaminants such as cars with oils, plastics and foams and has to be processesd very carefully. I would otherwise agree though, scrap in it's pure form is obviously not waste and the EA would not be able to prosecute someone for carrying say a load of clean bright copper for example
  10. Your a wrong un Mesterh, a wrong un I say Paul, I wondered about an electronic petition if it was possible or even one of these fangled facebook groups, they seem to hold some power these days, rage against the machine being an example. Perhaps we could have rage against the EA
  11. No worries John it wasn't a dig I also think you have come up with a cracking idea and i think the same as above, most will be glad of somewhere close by to unload their arisings for free rather than travelling back to their own yard if working locally
  12. Perhaps then Paul, you gave into the minefiled of misinterpretation and uncertainty rather than a rock solid yes or no you dont need one. Even the EA cant get the interpretation correct So as a representative of the Arb industry why dont you simply start an online opinion poll to assess the feeling of arbs towards whther they consider there arb arisings should be classed as waste Or just simply an objection to the fact that we should require one
  13. I would retitle the thread as "Arb Arisings" I do not produce waste in the course of my tree surgery activities only a usable by product
  14. I will tackle it, I'm just waiting to get pulled over by them. I am somewhat dissappointed that the AA have rolled over for a belly tickle on this issue rather than fighting it and also make it a condition of membership. I'm a memeber of BASC with my shooting, I am a member because BASC fight tooth and nail to defend its members from meaningless, needless legislation, I would expect the same if I were an AA member, not them taking the easy route
  15. It might be a little shafting but it adds up. I pay £9.99 for phone insurance, it's only a bit but overall I pay £5k a year on insurances, thats £50k in ten years, half my mortgage
  16. It all goes on the same pile which averages out, your first load may be 90% chip 10 foliage, your second might be 90% foliage 10 percent chip. Average ?? Are you saying the EA are correct in classifying arb arisings as waste and to be prffessional we should send it to landfill ?? BTW stump grindings are perfect for the mulch pile and make excellent mulch My customers are very happy in the knowledge that all my arisings are re-used in some form or another and as such see my approach as proffessional, if they thought I was treating it as waste and dumping it they'd be mortified. You lye down and take a shafting from the EA mate, I preffer to stand my ground, I think I could put my point across in court very eloquently for a Yorkshireman
  17. This guy must have been really niffed at something [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlZh9-NQEyI]YouTube - Destroyed in Seconds - Bulldozer Rampage[/ame]
  18. Yep definately Sorbus But no matter, doesn't need id'ing if it's coming down, just carve a number in the trunk with the nose of the 020, and then Tree No 2 down and stump grind
  19. Whoever told you that Treebloke wants a severe spanking IMO That is generalising to the extreme
  20. It still doesn't go to landfill and is sold, unless you like wasting money I think in the case of Arbs, "waste" needs redefining if infact it has been defined
  21. I think they are ermine moths, there was a tree nearby here that was covered, they eat the leaves and the caterpillas spin the web but the tree didn't suffere any ill effects, it regenerated no probs Ermine moth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  22. (it does not include clippings or trimmings that consist primarily of foliage) The key word is "Primarily" that means you can have foliage in but I read that as not more than 50% otherwise it is primarily foliage. If it's good enough for Boi fuel it's not primarily foliage and the idea of composting is to reduce the amount of foliage to leave woodchip. I will pay for a license when they drag me through the courts kicking and screaming and when they finally make it clear that tree surgery does not require one I will laugh my little cotton socks off at you lot that have given up and bought one at the first hurdle
