  1. Your supposed to let it bleed out for 60 seconds so that blood pressure is reduced and the celox will then have a better chance of staying put. Takes some bottle to let 60 seconds worth of blood pee down the drive I dont know why, but I have never paniced orflapped when at an accident scene, even when I come down out the mewp and the bloke in with me was badly injured. Everything just seems to calm right down and I can think really clearly, it's as though things go into slow motion. The guy in with me was conscious but couldn't breath, he was turning blue, I put it down to he was badly winded or had broke ribs, which he had. He then went into shock and started frigging about on the floor, even that didn't phase me I hope when I come a cropper I dont end up getting a flapper helping because quite honestly your better off without One minute is a long time to think, use it
  2. Why did you bray three wedges in when you had a pull line in with a three to one whatever it was
  3. That happened on mine last year, only I found it on the pre checks
  4. When AHS were touting for business they said it would be ok for up to twelve months
  5. Mozza lives in Manchester, that speaks for itself, you have to kick gunshot victims aside just to get to the shop for a loaf of bread. Arterial bleeds cannot be left. I was taught to stem the bleeding first if you are alone and try and summon assistance whilst you are doing so, your casualty could, if conscious make the 999 call. If you dont stem the bleeding first the casualty could be dead by the time you finish the call. If it's possible to slap a tournoquet on it's a quick solution whilst you rummage about for a pressure point, once the tournoquet is on or pressure applied to a pressure point you can relax and make the call. I would reckon your casuality will be a little anxious to say the least watching you having a chat on the phone whilst his life blood is squirting all over mrs Joneses patio and would most likely go into deep shock
  6. Do you climb with no side strop ?? Come on, I was trained for major trauma not sticky plaster stuff. Missing legs arms and guts hanging out. You sometimes have to improvise even field dressing will not be enough sometimes, I would even cut a wound open to grab the artery if neccessary, even on myself if I could
  7. Good man....So do I though, it's called a climbing line, a prussick, adyneema sling, a belt, a t shirt arm, bootlace, .....................................................
  8. I can see where your coming from Tony but the way an arb looks at things is they are going to use a lockjack, they dont intend to use a first aid kit. I have three or four field dressings and two celox kicking around, any other injuries are not urgent enough that they can wiat fo the paramedics
  9. Last week I had about 70 ton but the loading thing is a problem, the other option is to have my chip bin raise up the artic pulls along side and I use my little tractor to load easy
  10. If the chip bin starts getting full I'll just call in the bio mass man
  11. That is exactly what I am planning to do if I can build a chip bay with concrete floor and high walls I will sell the stuff for bio mass, I'm going to see if hama comes up with any info on spec and handling etc
  12. Cheers Slasher
  13. It wouldn't be the first time I'd have come out of conifers fast and against my will:lol:
  14. Sometimes you may have no choice, such as in conifers. You will not have the time to get out and get your first aid kit out the truck. It would take 10 seconds to get one of your dyneema slings off your harness and tournoquet your arm or even wrap your climbing line round a few times. That 10 seconds could give you half an hour to sort things out if you keep releasing and retightening If not and you cant get down you may as well throw yourself down the outside of the conifers and risk death, you would die anyway
  15. The charity bit is because I dont like to see people getting owt for nowt, they have benefitted hugely so why shouldnt the needy benifit a little
  16. I drove past his house on friday with the soldering iron If I'd have known
  17. I dare say your right Pete The problem is delivery of chip is not worth it unless I am pulling in £60 an hour, if you did one load an hour they are still getting cheap chip and you are covering your overheads and getting a wage. The only way I could do it for charity is to add onto the top of that delivered
  18. I wouldn't wish her on anyone
  19. I guessed as much I'm extremely lucky with the knowledge I have, if I couldn't have repaired all my own gear I think I'd be bankrupt by now
  20. The answer isn't "you dont" though If you are for example in conifers, you haven't got a hope of getting out of them in under a minute and you dont carry the tourniquet out of your first aid kit with you. You will have a few seconds to decide your course of action and if there was a doubt about me getting down I'd go for an improvised tourniquet and apply it one handed in under 15 seconds.
  21. Our lass is always having a go at me, she says I'm far too soft, but to me our lass is like a snapping rottweiler, she doesn't take crap off anyone
  22. Spot on Liam, you can use anything at your disposal to improvise if you know how
  23. Hahaha, how long have you been managing with the stop button bust though ???
  24. No disrespect here and please dont take this the wrong way, but that is a very dumb question do you really want an answer to that question ??
