  1. He doesn't use it Charlie, he leaps in the landy from 10ft away, the handle has become redundant so has been removed
  2. I have no idea charlie, he just asked me if I had a tractor and if it had a front loader which I use for logs and chip. I just told them my apprentice doesn't go anywhere near it and he accepted that as ok. With regards to the tirfor, I supposed it's because it can be used for lifting or lowering a load, not neccessarily that it will be I think they go well over board on a College H&S assessment myself
  3. The college wanted me to loler the car jack, the front loader on the tractor, the winch on the front of the landy and a tirfor I very very rarely use
  4. Technically the jack in the landrover should be lolered.
  5. Thats the one I watched Mick and how I did it, it's just the bit in the last clip that is really hard but it should be easier if you use peters method of piano wire
  6. As the eye is just about to form and the loose ends disappear, they are cut off just before they go inside to be buried, then the inner is mostly cut off apart from a little 7" or so length I did find it pulled through dead easy once the snare tube came out and I could grab the end of the taper I'll give the piano wire a do next time, cheers Peter
  7. Haha, no mate, I think it was an extremely lucky first attempt
  8. It's all here Stevie New England Ropes - Splicing Guide Peter, does the tail not pull out of the wire loop as you are trying to rag it through. If you have a link or piccie or a drawing it would be cool I'm going to see Nod at the next show and buy a kit off him. He had a workshop up here last year I think which Bob went to, I wanted to go but ended up to my neck in work If I get to master one type of rope splice I will try and stick to that climbing rope so I can spike my rope as much as I want and not care
  9. Well that was a right pain to do, just the last bit where core and tail are trying to go through the same space within the rope, absolute nightmare. Eventually made a snare out of an old pinhole surgery tool (Mike Hill may recognise it) basically pass a wire up the hollow and bent it back on itself. Without that tool I have no idea how I would have done it, it would have been extremely difficult. I haven't done any whipping, if that eye comes out after that I'll eat my car, but I'm going to use this rope as a light lowerer or pulling rope to test it's strength
  10. Definately Gay or even very little manhood Tom
  11. I was after one of those Grabbers Tom, where they shove it in from the other end and grab the tail with a wire loop that tightens down and then rag it back through if you know what I mean.
  12. Having a go at splicing Dead easy so far the only problem I'm having is getting the outer core tail up past the inner core from the c to d mark, I'm thinking I might need a snare to grab and drag the tail through. I think I will invest in a splicing kit, so far I've done everything without tools, prcticing on a bit New england 16 strand cos it's easy. Where's the best place to buy splicing kits and whipping kits
  13. Me ?? I cant remember that conversation
  14. You'll have to explain that post to me because I can't make head nor tails of it
  15. You want a roll bar on with the weight we carry high up, it helps a massive amount and helps prevent massive over steer
  16. Where is the roll bar, have you just taken it off to fit helpers or hasn't it got one ?
  17. My brother in law fitted a brand new turbo to his car one weekend, got up monday to go to work and car wouldn't start. Looked under the bonnet and was gobsmacked to find that over night someone had carefully taken off and nicked the new turbo and manifold. He said it's got to be someone who knew but it must have taken them at least an hour, they undid everything, no cutting !!
  18. You've got to sign out of your youtube account and veiw your vid from outside your account then copy and paste the url from there Ed otherwise it wont work
  19. You might be mistaking that for porntube Steve:biggrin:
  20. Yes the 130, the back external measurements are 2.6m x 1.8m I've drawn up a cutting list for the ali planking so I'll try and ring this week and get a price for it all, I may need to be sat down at the time
  21. The problem I'd have is sorting out the decent lengths from the bad, they'd all have to be seperated and the ones with chunks out the ends where the catches are couldnt be used because I need 2.6m dead. Its a shame the new ones weren't the right length I'd have snapped them up Thanks anyway Dave, very much appreciated mate
  22. I've noticed that too, that Bolam blokes a nightmare
