  1. I must have done it wrong first time round Dooohhhhh !!! I'm now a 42.5
  2. Chris...I wouldn't expect a quick fix course, if there were a 1 or 2 year course that I could fit in with my work I would have done it. Every bat worker I have come across has been the same, guarded and secretive, if they guenuinely have a concern for bats they would be more open and willing to share info
  3. Thats easy to solve, if the customer thinks it's unskilled and easy as one did with me, I just told him I would hire him my gear if I could film him doing the job, because I'd probably earn another £200 sending the clip in
  4. I give them two prices, one if they want it doing quick ie £120 or I can do it for £60 if they wait till I'm passing with half a load Anyhow you should be paying them ta tek it down, yew's valuable wood dunt tha know and t'price a firewood now mi lad, it's gone thru t'roof
  5. Supposed to be a bit of fun Martyn, do you do fun
  6. Stevie, Rupe doesn't recruit moderators it's Steve Bullman that you need to be sweet talking mate
  7. Haha, I'm 4.3333333
  8. Its no good if you do the course then are stilled shunned by the local bat group. To be honest if it's just a basic bat awareness course it probably doesn't contain much more than you can learn yourself online, correct me if I'm wrong. I am left with a distrust of bat groups now, by being full of self importance they are doing themselves nor the bats any good
  9. I like to think I have a bit more knowledge about how a branch will behave with certain cuts and how to get a branch or tree to do what you want it to do or predict what it is going to do than your average tree cutter. But there are certainly many many people out there that can rig and climb much better than I I also probably take more calculated risks than many others or carry out unorthadox method shall we say, last week I looked at a monster Ash and thought yeh, that'll come over ok, bit balanced but a wedge will off balance it over. It ended up with a slight breeze holding the thing up, so I put a throw line in high up and pulled it over with the throw line, whilst everyone was shaking their heads at me in shame
  10. I like the last pic where the goundy is "I'm outa here!!" in the background
  11. Makes a change from the usual "Gay coming out" forums
  12. I'm getting a glut of calls asking for loads of unseasoned split wood for next year, I do it for £50 a cube as opposed to £70 a cube, so they get a lot more for their money and I keep selling logs year round instead of a mad rush come november Done four 2 cu/m loads this week
  13. Coooool Well done guy, nice stuff !!!! Mostly Lathe work ????
  14. I think it was, I had to borrow half of his kit for the climb
  15. I am a very average climber, but for 46 year old and 16st I reckon I can hold my own. If you want to put a measure on your abilities then enter a competition as I did at Leeds which Judge organised with the likes of Alistair (Alli) and the other lad which I can remember his name (used to work for Nod at the shows ?? with dreads )??, they flew round the tree !! All credit to Mr Bullman, he is a very fluid climber, very fast but keeps it safe and looking effortless ( and no I dont want to be a moderator Steve )
  16. You still want to be a moderator don't you Stevie
  17. I bet it was more "Hey, look at that old giffa climbing a tree mum"
  18. Decided to go with chain oil after all Put it all back together and I had taken upany play the was, so things were a bit tighter than I thought, so I mixed chain oil with drylube and it worked a treat Only thing I'm not happy with now is how when I put the four way adaptor on it blunts the single main knife. I had sharpened the main knife up like a razor, stuck the fourway on which slides over the main knife and it flattened the edge off after one stroke
  19. spent all day yesterday on one' been waiting for a few days of dry weather because i've had to drive across the middle and turn round ect. the green keeper knows every soft spot of grass. i just followed his instructions and didn't leave even aslight mark. cleaning up is a pain
  20. Not everyone can afford a big yellow gay box Some people are being undercut so much they have to try to stay in business by lowering their prices A consequence of low prices is you cant afford decent kit or to buy kit you should have or need
  21. Its called Nylon 6 Mesterh and is used to make bearing pads or gear wheels etc from this ebay user eBay My World - gfgplasticfabricationsltd
  22. I emailed the local Bat group a couple of times to ask their advice on becoming licensed and they didn't even afford me the courtesy of a reply They are up their own bums Bob, either that or they dont want anyone else cashing in on surveys, they want it all for themselves
  23. If you use celox, you follow the manufacturers instructions It would be applied after blood loss anyway, by the time you get down and get out the celox a minute will have passed anyway....
