  1. Liam, you should be ashamed of yourself
  2. I reckon you had the stick for personal protection because you were scared incase it grabbed you by the throat, picked you up and shook you like a rag doll
  3. I dont understand Frank, if you were that keen on not harmng the fluffy little ball of feathers, why jab it in the eye with a stick in pic 7 ?
  4. Why two climbers ?? I reckon one climber and three groundies will tackle any big tree
  5. Haha Over half a stone mate, another half a stone to go
  6. You can guarantee they cut through many roots, digging down and then over open wounds laid a highly alkaline material for the Tree to absorb
  7. Thanks Lee, I will do that on the next batch
  8. Exactly! If I'd priced a tree removal and turned up with a saw, helipcoptor came in we hooked up the tree and cut it off in a oner and job done in 10 mins would they say it was too dear then
  9. I know the ideal planting spacing for a taxus hedge is 12" but if the hedge is to be around 7ft could I get away with say 18" spacing. In other words does the spacing increase with the height of the hedge ?
  10. I'd echo what Paul said Stevie. It has a massive dependency on moisture content, if the logs are bone dry and have been kept under cover I can get an hour out of one log with the vents shut right down but the fire still glowing. More moisture and I have to have the vents more open which results in more heat going up the chimney, the slower the burn the more the heat is transfered to the room. The best way is to tell them to buy a bag and suck it and see
  11. I now dont explain my overheads, I tell them what portion of the £180 I actually get in my hand I had it a couple of weeks ago, a bloke saying I was on good money. I would have charged exactly the same for three hours work and if you are paying things as you should and have a decent setup, on a good business model its a third overheads, a third wages and a third profit I think. You will make £60 for yourself then out of that £60 you'll pay £12 tax £48 for three hours hard graft isn't that good now is it
  12. Ad I'm sorry but it is fact mate, you keeping things to yourself is not backing up your comment. I am also friends with one of the officers that shot MEN EZEZ, (spelt wrong to prevent google search) and have known him a long time. Again, no firearms experience previously Andy, not in my wildest dreams or that of anyone else would you have expected police to allow a gunman to wander around slaughtering people for three hours mate and me travelling up there with firearms is a deliberate act and warrants prison, if it had been on my street and I took him out I would get away with it and be hailed a hero
  13. I expected a lot more celebratory dancing, well dissappointed
  14. I would have picked a better anchor point than the one in pic 3 as well AJ I never anchor on to long thin laterals as a main anchor but there again I'm 15 stone
  15. ...and the reason it's horse poop ?? My reasoning is two of my friends are firearms officers and together we have carried out firearms demonstrations at a village show we organise, if you wish to attend this show and discuss the matter with them, I'm sure they will enlighten you, I can even give you his mobile if you wish. I have also coached the Police shooting team for pistol, on the ranges, all firearms officers so have spent a lot of time with them. I have also had FAO's join me game shooting who have never owned a shotgun. On that documentary police with cameras, it followed a female FAO on training, she admitted applying and being accepted into firearms with zero firearms experience ....fact Perhaps the word "most" was a little harsh, I'll change that to "many" and stand rigidly by my statement.
  16. Thats what their job is They actually get paid to put their life on the line and sort out incidents
  17. I think were society is failing is the loss of ability for individuals to appraise a given situation and think for themselves. As Mesterh says, red tape has taken away decision making to such an extent that people have no common sense. I am old breed and have been dragged up not brought up, I inherently act then think and it has cost me dearly. Two times I have found myself in life threatening situations because I act on impulse with scant disregard for my own safety. Its only afterwards I sit and think, well that could have been a bit iffy. I have also been around firearms all my life and last year I was inches away from being accidently shot and yet still remain calm despite the gun being pointed directly at my face from 20ft away even after one barrel had been disharged at me. What I am trying to say is that most firearms officers today, join with zero experience of firearms and join for the status. I watched years ago a firearms officer shoot a drunk with an imitation shotgun, the bloke was in his bedroom behind double glazing and the officer was behind a panel van. The guy pointed his gun towards the window, and the officer feared for his life, yes the guy deserved to be shot but the officers life was not in danger. A set of protocols he had to follow which he did and imo in this case he bottled it and earned himself an exclusive " I shot someone" badge to boot Protocol has a lot to answer for and BTW, squaddies do follow orders but are also trained to improvise and are allowed to make their own decisions in critical situations, otherwise the forces would not be able to function
  18. We'll see We were talking originally about the officers who were there and who witnessed the shootings, then, who followed and stopped to help someone instead of carrying on following. I still cant believe the helicopter couldn't track him with the flood of calls coming in laying down a trail, the the coptor was in the air it could have been at an emergency call in seconds. The reason it wasn't, I suspect, is that they thought he had a high calibre weapon and could have shot it down
  19. What really naffs me off is people sign up for the police (and used to in the army but not now) expecting a nice cushy career out of it. In reality, you are signing up to put your life on the line to save other, no ifs no buts. You are there to lay your life on the line to save another. Your not there to stand by whating people being slaughtered until it's bomb proof safe for you to make a move Squaddies dont have that luxury and know full well that when they sign up they have a very good chance of dying.
  20. One thing I am bad for is not turning the other cheek and never think of my own safety. If I was going to ram him he wouldn't walk away I assure you and I probably wouldn't either, I would have waited till he emptied his barrels and gone for it, either mow him down or ram him side on as fast as I dare. The mugging I witnessed last year..... if I was driving I would have run them down without a thought, as it happened I had the car door open trying to get out to them driving along side, our lass wouldn't slow down because she knows what I,m like. I have no fear of firearms and on the spur of the moments no fear of losing my life
  21. Two days of rain and all these have popped up within a very small area in my wood amongst the leaf litter Little mushrooms, big mushrooms, thin mushrooms and fat mushrooms There was one very little fungi tht I have never seen before really unusual, I got the camera ready on macro and this bloke in a TNT wagon pulled up and asked me something, I walked forward to see what he said and stood on the fungi , I was not amused.
  22. Phew ! Glad to see I'm not the only pervert !!
  23. If you are posting pictures of butch tree surgeons in their harness's then your target audience is bored housewifes, so selling them at the show would be a failure, you then have to find a way of selling them to your target audience. You could do that and sell on ebay with the right keywords you'd get the hits I'd need to lose wieght and buff up a bit and you'd need to gain weight and have a face transplant though
  24. It doesn't get any less scarey either I've been self employed for 22 years and you still sometimes wonder where the next job is coming from
