  1. I didn't think the cuts were that bad or the hinge that bad on the large tree? Ok the sink/gob was a little large but hinge is pretty even... back cut lines up well.... Good use of the winch throughout (you could get the anchor point higher up using a throw line)... Enjoyed the vid thanks for posting.

<p>Hmmm - that is a very good question! I am away at the minute but I am pretty sure it is anti clockwise... but not sure how much a different a result it would give if the stone turned the other way.</p>

<p>But ot sure I have a vid here but even looking closely it is hard to tell!!

  3. Can you get any pics up? Sounds like a nice piece of yew!
  4. Nice lot of pics and uses of wood there Mike - thanks for posting!
  5. The only oil I found worked is Le Tonkinois oil - you mst have at least 4 coats but it does survive the winter and also does so on flat upward facing surfaces. It is more a varnish than an oil - you can matt it down for the last coat with an additive. I've not tried the Osmo exterior but all Osmo oils are quality!
  6. Ah - you're the fellow got that off Lee at GoMowers! How are you finding that bar? It is a new shape and design - and I think you have the new Echo 390 as well? I will get a narrower version next time - but the wide belly should mean that the chain is less likely to pull off - although cutting curves is much harder. I'm going to try one on an Echo 550 but running 91vxl or maybe the Stihl PS3. Should be awesome for bore cutting...

    Sugihara bars

Chain going out today sorry about that!
  9. Ok listed under the 8" bars
  10. Ah - yes I am - I will get it listed...
  11. Started to list carving set ups on CSB website. Put in 'arbtalk' as the voucher code for additional free throw in. We now have a good stock of genuine Echo 1/4" sprockets and have changed these over onto the Echo 280-WES and Echo 360-WES saws so they come fully carving ready. Will keep adding variations to what is there now to also include the very small R7 Sugi bars (7mm radius nose compared to a dime tip which is 9mm-10mm radius nose). 12. Quite a few people run .404 on their 395XPs. I've always found that .404 stays sharper longer than 3/8 - how much this is down to increased tooth size not sure, could be linked to the way the chain cuts, shifts the chip etc etc Also you could consider skip link chain? I have the 3/8 .063 chisel... and now have some multi mount light type bars in 3/8 .063 sizes 15",16",18",20",24",28",30",36" These bars will fit Stihl D025/3003 mounts, Husky D009 and Echo D176 with a spring spacer. May get my 390XP set up with a 28" and skip link to see how it runs.
  13. Not got one yet as don't do much treework at all now but a mate got one the other day and said 'was life changing!' and he is not one to gush! I wil get one for milling on site the next job I have that is garden based but all recent jobs I have been able to get the truck up close....
  14. I need to do more of the weights (when time permits! ). The laminated versions although marked as lightweight are still built more on the 'strong' side for durability and are actually heavier than some of the light type bars (as described below). The light type bars have sections CNC'd out then filled with resin. The durability of a single solid piece bar is maintained, a smidge of stiffness is lost but weight is reduced by up to 30% (this reduction varies bar to bar). They look nice but they also 'feel' very nice to use... Was having a go bore cutting with a 20" pro lam bar last week - this runs a 3/8 lo pro chain and was using Oregon 91vxl. Slightly smaller nose and kickback was very much reduced even when pushing the tip at the wood - also very easy to control in the wood... (this on an Echo 620SX which I didn't like much at first but now it's had a few tanks through it is prob on of the nicest running saws I've ever had). Lots of new Sugi bars will run 3/8 lo pro and even 1/4" pitch on larger saws (not recommended on the 560XP since the way the power is delivered puts more strain on the chain). Also got a couple of very small sprocket nose bars (8" and 10") to run on the Echo 280WES. Next order there will actually be some 1/4" light type replaceable sprocket nose bars....
  15. As said the burr ones 100% worth planking
  16. Finally the new order of Sugi bars has landed and we are still going through them all... There are a host of new options and new bars. All the bars marked 'PRE ORDER' on the Chainsawbars ? chainsaw chains, chainsaw bars and chainsaw accessories website are in stock (I think only the 24" pro for large Husky is out of stock). Everyone has been asking about the bars for the T540XP - they are now in and free multi tool with every bar ordered this week. Lots of new options for different saws are also available ie. new multi mount bars, 1/4" sprocket nose bars, 3/8 lo pro bars for mid sized saws, new carving bars... too hard and confusing to list on the CSB website so feel free to ask. There will be a new Sugi website launched shortly which will have every Sugi bar in the range. New range of Sugihara bars for Husqvarna 540XP now here! Finally the new (massive!) shipment of Sugi bars has arrived. It has taken a full week just to unbox! There are so many new options and combinations that to fit them into one newsletter would not be practical. So a series of newsletters will drip feed the info in bite sized pieces. Bars for Husky 540XP These have been the most sought after bars. We now supply these in both pro lam 12",14",16" and also light type 12",14",16". Sugihara bars

Yep we have 36",42" and 46" in both Husky and Stihl mounts in Sugi pro bars (46" is the absolute largest Sugi build - a question often comes up why not a 48" ) But we now have 56",64" in GB solid bars (50",60",72" and 87" in double enders) 20",25",30",36",42" in lo pro bars but with a larger mount.... only a couple of the 20" and 42" left at the moment but others coming 1st July. Finally a new 74" monster sprocket nose bar coming 1st July as well! And spacers are being developed to make it easier to use the multi mount bars... it's all happening!!

    Sugihara bars

Pleasure gents and look forward to the feedback. P.S FR Jones have a really good range of Sugi bars so anyone wanting to see them in person and who are nearby can always pop in there.
  19. Nice work Mark - and really like the bench design - looks good and also a good method without having to do fiddly mortices

    Sugihara bars

    Many thanks for the order
  21. Hmmm yep the bulging on the other side should not be happening....
  22. Haha! But actually those pinch bolts are designed to put a small dent in the bar - in order to grip it where it is only clamped in one place.
  23. But I'm going to be biased in this respect since I sell bars! But it is true as well and milling is harder on a bar than normal cross cutting. Bar,chain and drive sprocket all need replacing when worn.
  24. As above - you will get the bar wandering in the cut if any of these issues are there. This is more accentuated with the small log mill rather than an Alaskan because the end of the bar is not clamped. In the Alaskan you tend to get the bar sticking in the cut or the bar pulling down in the middle if things aren't quite right. Bear in mind as well bars do not last forever - like a car tyre that can still perform as a tyre to support the car with canvas showing and no tread - a chainsaw bar will still cut through wood a long long way past it's prime. It just won't do it well.
