    Sugihara bars

Thanks all - the T540XP bars are proving by far the most popular and some will sell out I think before I get the next lot ordered
  3. Hmmm - there is a pretty strict policy of no name and shame on here - and Forest and Arb are one of arbtalks sponsers. You can mention that you have been let down by a 'supplier' Did you try and contact them on here first? And give them a chance to put this right?
  4. That 1/4" picco chain is amazing - gives a very clean smooth cut indeed - that chain alone has allowed caring bar noses to be smaller by 4mm than the previous dime tip. I'd say Stihl did well with this saw and this chain. Although the chain is a bit fiddly to sharpen....
  5. Actually just looking at this for Oregon 73LPX we are £19.26 a loop if you bought x2 inc vat and postage - for the more expensive chains it would be £25... Just had a look at chains direct and for same chain would be £15.50 a loop. So yes it is more but not a million miles away. I have been thinking about reducing the prices on the custom chain selector for a while as it is a lot less work and maintenace than the selectors... so food for thought!
  6. I know - we are not the cheapest - but what to do? We stock x3 rolls of every chain that we sell at all times... We have the largest range of chain ready to buy in Europe with chain types you will find no where else... It is easy to buy both Custom loops as well as use the selectors... We spent 25k on Stihl chain to see us through the Stihl online selling ban... But there is a price to pay for the above and I'm afraid we will never be the cheapest or would look to be or could be given the choice and level of stock we carry.
  7. As above when I used to do treework. Then hedge trimming really kicks in in July. I'm wondering if the effects of the storms a year and a half ago are now wearing off. It gave a very big boost to the industry in general Feb 2014 onwards....
  8. You prob could yourself but it is the burrs that really get woodworkers juices flowing! They are what people are after. We should really have a burr thread on here so people who find them can move them on quickly - only issue can can be the transport or distance..
  9. You will be able to find them - but I think a lot of people working with trees get fed up with being offered less than firewood prices! If you pay what people ask for then it works well for both parties - ie you get your burrs and the seller will then keep an eye out for them in the future for you.... because it was worth their while to do so on the first sale.
  10. Some cracking work there Tony and some quality original makings - impressed
  11. It should clamp up fine Stevie as it is - I wouldn't add anything under there. I would just make sure is very clean and dry on both clamps and bar, sequentially tigheten until feels solid and you should have no problems. If you do let me know and can look at replacing both the clamps and the bolts but it should be fine. The only time I had this happen was when I had some bar oil under the clamp. After I cleaned it up it was fine and never had it since.
  12. Usually this is down to not tightening the bolts sequentially ie doing one tight then the other tight... if you tighten like car wheel working from one to the other so the clamp sits flat. Another reason is if there is a bit of chain oil or grease there - make sure the clamps and bar are clean and grease free. It shouldn't be happening on even a double end mill set up. Hope the above helps.
  13. Got to be around £800-00 at least I would say - great work! In theory should be twice as much as that but being realistic...
  14. I have now got a 25" Sugi pro bar in for the Husky 560XP and other saws running a K095 mount. It is a long bar for that saw but we have sold them in the past. Chain spec is .325 .058 92 drive links but you could change the nose to a 3/8 .058 nose if you wanted to run 3/8 chain. Guide bars Or you can put the part number into google or search box on website etc which is: BC3T-8J63-A
  15. The powersharp system does not cut or sharpen up like a standard chain - it is only valid for those who blunt a chain and then have to throw it away... for this sort of customer it works well. For everyone else it is not that useful.
  16. Loved the drone footage there Rich and as said ropework was lovely and smooth
  17. I didn't think the cuts were that bad or the hinge that bad on the large tree? Ok the sink/gob was a little large but hinge is pretty even... back cut lines up well.... Good use of the winch throughout (you could get the anchor point higher up using a throw line)... Enjoyed the vid thanks for posting.
  18. Where did you get the bar on the right - 39450? I don't think Oregon have been labelling bars like that for a long time to my knowledge anyway.... bar lengths are rule of thumb in some ways - they can vary from manufacturuer to manufacturer and like this even by the same manufacturer.
  19.

<p>Hmmm - that is a very good question! I am away at the minute but I am pretty sure it is anti clockwise... but not sure how much a different a result it would give if the stone turned the other way.</p>

<p>But ot sure I have a vid here but even looking closely it is hard to tell!!

  20. Can you get any pics up? Sounds like a nice piece of yew!
  21. Nice lot of pics and uses of wood there Mike - thanks for posting!
  22. The only oil I found worked is Le Tonkinois oil - you mst have at least 4 coats but it does survive the winter and also does so on flat upward facing surfaces. It is more a varnish than an oil - you can matt it down for the last coat with an additive. I've not tried the Osmo exterior but all Osmo oils are quality!
  23. Ah - you're the fellow got that off Lee at GoMowers! How are you finding that bar? It is a new shape and design - and I think you have the new Echo 390 as well? I will get a narrower version next time - but the wide belly should mean that the chain is less likely to pull off - although cutting curves is much harder. I'm going to try one on an Echo 550 but running 91vxl or maybe the Stihl PS3. Should be awesome for bore cutting...
