  1. Smart well finished work there Pete - thanks for posting
  2. Chainsaws are big noisy things but still must be treated well even the big old 880! Hot weather can make saws much harder to restart. A few tips: Don't run the saw flat out all the way down the log - let it idle for 30 seconds or so every meter you mill At the end of the log do not go from milling flat out to then just flicking the off switch - heat still builds up... when idling air over the fans helps the saw cool down Never allow the saw to run out of fuel - it causes problems in the long term Clean filter, sharp chain, normal maintenance. Engines do not deliver full power until after a good few tanks of fuel as components bed in - so yes you can mill with a new saw but give it more idling stops, treat it gently. It's boring but read the manual - it also gives pointers about not running it balls to the wall for long periods in the running in period.
  3. Ha ha nice - would be a shame when the first scratch/ding appeared though
  4. The thing is (and I don't know him) the reason he is expensive is because he has such a large range of timber... or to stock a large range of timber he needs to be expensive. I have some black walnut got form a member on here I think there are still a few bits on ebay shop: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/chainsawbarsalaskanmillandtreet/All-wood-related-things-/_i.html?_fsub=5877698015&_dmd=1&_nkw=black+walnut There is even some rippling in a few pieces.
  5. Good idea - so quick release and tooless if possible to save the faff.
  6. Thanks for comments/feedback... so even without the bolt in there the drill holes could give an idea of depth? Like the idea of a long slot as well....
  7. Simple idea - but how about if you had a carving bar with holes drilled - and then you could screw a stop or similar and this way it would control the depth of cut - carvers do you think this would be handy?
  8. Have now got the new GB lo pro rims. These have been designed and manufactured exclusively for chainawbars. Not a cheap thing to do hence price but we will do an ongoing offer of by 2 get 1 free. If you buy 5 then get additional 3 free. These have an ST size internal fitting but run 3/8 lo pro on the outside. This means you can run lo pro chain on chainsaws that have a rim and sprocket set up. Can be bought here [ame] [/ame] as part of a larger order. Or if you just want this and only this buy on ebay to save postage costs GB 3/8 lo pro rim Standard ST internal and 3/8 lo pro external BUY 2 get 1 FREE | eBay And a vid here:- [ame] [/ame] Soon we will have better spacers for our GB lo pro guide bars which means then these bars will run on most saws, and we'll also have Stihl lo pro ripping chain (2 weeks away). Add to this the new Sugi bars which will run on 3/8 lo pro chain, Stihl's 3/8 lo pro chisel - all of this opens up a lot of options running 3/8 lo pro on different saws.
  9. Yes - in fact Arbtalk is prob (by far) the most valuable contribution to the arb industry in the UK (and possibly further afield) - there is Also I am just doing another thread on the new GB lo pro rims I have just had in - not applicable to your Husky 346 - these have the SM internal rims - so easy to run 3/8 lo pro. But we now have the 3/8 lo pro rims with a ST internal - to my knowledge these are unique.
  10. A good thread/question. I suppose the best thing to do is start running a different oil in the saws that you are getting problems with - try and keep everything else the same - see if the problem persists. I am trialing some of the Rye Oil both mineral and bio - it's quite hard to see/feel if it is better or worse than the Stihl Synth Plus I have used the past year...
  11. How much do we have delivery for? Is it £12.50+vat It's a tricky one - delivery up there costs us around £14-00+vat... If the delivery puts you off work with us - x2 guide bars we will halve the delivery cost, buy x3 guidebars we will do free delivery... Give a call on 01590681259 if you wish to discuss.

    Sugihara bars

Out of interest how much did you pay for this one? And how much was the equivalent Oregon or Husky bar? Japan is pretty close to New Zeland...

  14. Yep that is some nice figuring on that bottom pic
  15. Only have .404 square ground in full skip link as well as 3/8 .063 chiesel... I will try and get some of the other .404 in full skip but really hard to get hold of and expensive!
  16. Good professional piece Si well done
  17. Mend fast Steve - I'm glad you got it sorted... I have started taking Pomi T as a preventative (am 42) as there is no age range on these illnesses.
  18. Nice hinge Is that your wagon in the first pics? Platform and a chip carrier all in one? Looks the absoute business

Have you had a look at the new website? SUGI FOR HUSQVARANA | Sugihara Guide Bars There are a lot of options there now. Bear in mind one of the weaknesses of the current Sugi bar range is that you cannot interchange the 3/8 noses with the .325 noses - size is slightly different - a shame as it would be easier. The 3/8" and .404 noses all have the same fitting so are interchangeable. Have a look and see what you think.
  20. Ha ha  I must have missed the main showdown as nothing much moving when I was watching!
  21. Not sure and would be guessing now but pretty big - 3ft butts used....
  22. Would be amazing to have a big old fire and campout in the middle bit
  23. Many thanks Hats - what's your name? Hard to tie in arbtalker alias with customers sometimes
