  1. I just don't cut them up with my saws. ( rail sleepers are the same)
  2. There are many trainers who have never dealt with this sort of thing in the work place , day in day out. Training situatiions are very controlled and quite different to daily work routine. I don't want to discourage people from training. Training is about learning safe techniques and nothing more. Skills must be mastered in the workplace which is where trainers fail as they spend more time teaching than honing their skills.
  3. would that still have happened if he had done his NPTC chipper test?
  4. There is one in a recent copy of Tractor & Machinery magazine. Tidy looking too.
  5. Village idiots.
  6. I found they bu66er the chain up.
  7. This is why they stopped making them. First and only piece of kit to fail on me up a tree. This was 4 months old when it broke.
  8. Here it is, part 2 of the pine video. [ame= ] [/ame]
  9. I didn't spend 3 years at Newton Rigg for nothing.
  10. get a set square with a 90 and 2 x 45 degree angles, sight along it so the base is at eye level and the top edge is at the top of the tree, walk backwards till all is alligned , your distance from the tree is equal to the height plus the height from ground level to your eye. or straight fell it and measure it. I use a % scale clinometer which I find to be the most flexible method.
  11. at timber wolf you will pay double over the odds
  12. Punctuated to perfection. Sadly misspelt and presented incorrectly 7/10. Aeculus hippocastanum. Castanea sativa.
  13. Its all down to being trained. The IPAF means you have a broad spectrum training. If a hire firm trains you on one machine and you sign the hire form to say your trained , that should be ok for that machine.
  14. If the trees where too small or non existent in 1968 then they would not be covered by TPO's. I thought the TPO idea was introduced in 1974 with the town and country planning act. So where they got 1968 from is a mystery.
  15. Ask the council what they want. It may include your recent TPO work applications and inspections of your work. Round here you need AA approved status.
  16. yep, it was about £1250 delivered ,only had to open up the bolt holes a bit and kept the new throttle and choke on the engine ( binned the entec bits)
  17. Thats a more realistic effort than some I have seen. Why not try starting with the log cut off at a sharp slope, rather than 90degrees.
  18. yous gonna need trebogans BIG bar

    big saws

Go for stihl on big saws. Husqvarnas just unscrew themselves and fall to bits. The saws are an investment at this end of the market as they should last many years, I sold an 084 with 20 years on the clock for £200 last summer.
  20. Sadly farmers are having waste disposal probs like us and the burning of non farm produced waste was banned 2 years ago. ( my friendly farmer was threatend with a 20 grand fine if he continued) find a green waste recycling depot
  21. darn it I was hoping they where australias finest at Palmslayers.com and that was ole pekkers work.
  22. Looks like CCTV footage in high winds, nice toshiba tv they videoed it off.
  23. Weather was a one off. The cowling didnt fit after replacing the engine with a new one , cos entec swap the rocker covers over as the fuel pump on the offside obstructs the cowling. bet ya didn't know that.
