  1. hi tractor boy ill answer you as im the instrucctor/assessor who oftern runs the cource for caple manor college but i actually work full time at bts in suffolk. i think the cource is good but iwould would i not???? i have never yet had any one who said they did not lear n something from it. planting is one of those things that covers evryting from cells to semi matures and many people do averagley, some do well and some do badley. to be honest 95% of the peolple we see on the cources come for their rfs. so if you would liike to know moor plese get in toch send me a private message and ill be happy to let you know dates costs etc, i know caple have just canceled one cource a sthey could not get an instructor, thats what happens when you leave it untill 2 weeks befor to try and book one !!!!! cheers kevin
  2. the level was dependant on the awarding body. I used to be a senior arb lecturer and when i forst took on the job we offered a l2 n l3 with the same name. some of yoiu may have noted the consultation with the QCF units and the idear of this is to help remove some of these overlaps. it is always very difficult when people draw a line in the sand be it a membership, or an award or a qualification, but there will always be those that dont quite get there and the closer they are the more infurating it is. i have simpathy with you for having a desire to recognise your skills with a prof membership and not quite making the required criteria. however there are so many roughts to qualification and with a mix of your experiance you would bring much to any organisation, but see wheather you whant it enough to get that qualification to become a member.
  3. hi mate

is all good for you at the mo???

  4. as a company every one, absolutly without exception from the MD to the part time cleaner has FA that is in date. thats about 250-300 people the min is emergency aid that teaches nothing moor than pluging ad bleeding, indirect pressure, unconsusios, and cardic/respiration problems we have several FAW qualified and a few who have done more remote training. we havea good relationship with a local providor, but even were we are truly remote is not that much of an issue, we can expect delays though, but there is always a limit to what extended skills one can practice without appropriate equipment, you cant do ET tubes and canulate for fuids unless you have them. true you can learn alittle bit moor about better diagnosis and monitoring, my opinion is some first aid training is always usful, but selecting those to get the further training is essential. kev

  9. Any one who climbs a tree in this condition let alone rigs on it without giging serouse consideration to the condition of the roots does not like their life let alone those arround them. that my opinion, MG is a seriouse decay fungi that destrys all parts of the woody tissie in the roots cel/lig/pec. so you may get away with climbing and rigging, butthat is what you are doing is getting away with it, NOT planning and taking resnoble procustions. thats my opinion take it or leve it kev
  10. Hi Little tree yep it is a MINIMUM 1 day cource, essensially the differance for novice/experianced is time and or number of candidates? have you ever used a stump grinder befor. also lantra will list lots of training providors but there are less grinder instructors than chainsaw instructors!!! so cheak dates with them when booking up. lantra site shows your nearest regestered training providor for the grouping of cource you seek as Achieve-Ability Plus New House Park Farm Redmarley d Abitot Gloucestershire GL19 3LB 01531 650236 but i know nothing about them just saves you hunting arround if you were interested in feb ill cheak bookings nd see if we could make it for novice happy hunting

  13. The point the good cahps at clarkes are trying to make is a fair one just like prussic rope. there is no defined standard for prussic rope, moor enlightened suppliers ether self certify (set there own standard) OR USE THE CLOSEST similar standard eg mointin accesory cord, for plant this may be a geenral machinery directive. there are step ladder standards but they are aimed at 4 legs, so a 3 leg could be cheaked against it but does not have to be in terms of sales i want to stress the ladder is a nice bit of kit and these 3 leg ladders are used loads in the orient you see them all over. but the CE issue aside you must thnk about the work at height regs and what they have to say about selection of kit saying should be ce'd But i say agin they are well made, we have a set in the shop, there is a down side to them if we say they are avoiding CE, but that is not a problem, if we say, they are made under an ISO standard (no proof of that though) and accept they are stable, they are rated to 100kg, (15stn) under the CEEN standard that is light domestic strength, which. i whant to stress that we have thenm and they apear well made, but if you think we are now at a stage were some whole sellers are ce marking by self certifying ISO on tied prussic loops prehaps we should push for a standard to cover 3 legged ladders, insted of speculating about insurance and legalities as has been said befor dave and the gang at workwere woudl not knowingly do anything illigal but do look for new products and there are always teething issues with that kev
  14. Ben also though vichel exise duty ie road tax driving liecence vehicle insurane employers insurance protection agains tresspassers good luck mate whatch your time structure your answer so it makes sence make sure it can be read no read = no points
  15. top gear too but you do pay for it their sister compNY ramsey ladders forfar scotland, first used them when i was an aprentis, and thought then they were indistructable ladders and if you buy the top grade ones they still are but you do pay for them. we use the wooden brats at work and one advantage is you can get them referbed cheaper than buying new, and also british, still made well Buy Ladders Online haev a look glad the ob whent well kev
  16. hears a questin for all to ponder if the WW ladder is not CE marked as one does not exist, and cost say 150 quid the youngmans ladder is CE marked presumerbly via self certification or by presenting to the notifying body under genneral machinery directive at just over 300 quid is their a genuine gain from the CE mark?? discuss............................. would you let your family out in a car with no mot???? you could argue that in the absence of a ce the ladder should at least have a quality assurance mark??? iso? just thoughts for discussion
  17. My advice late at nite so ill do my best, you actually have 9 questions there to revise do a 4x4 set of boxes coulor out top left box and going down the left side and along the top Transport storage disposal primary legislation regulations controlls then start filling the boxes here are a few ponters weight on driving licences weight of trailers waste carriers licences waste transfer notes waste managemant regulations #road traffic act ground water protection regs NETT regs waste transfer stations waste composting site regulations definition of waste 'intent to dispose' controlling leachates from composting process planning consent on storage area quanataties held and paragraph ?15? exemptions on storage how was the raw product gennerated has it been trough a seperate process to create a product FEPA re smells and bi-pollutants EA licencing and monitoring local bye laws ground water protection areas trade discriptions act (what do you sell at end and how mesured) theres a few to keep you thinking cheers kevin PS really do mention exemptions but i urge you not to spend too much time in that area just show you know some but compliance with knowlege is a better way to go there are a few to be going on with there was an old do i need a waste carriers licence one on hear for the tech cert yes you do but there there are some exemptions look at the AA aproved contractoor paperwork there are some cluse on there

  24. did you come andy i cant remember half the people i spoke too kev
  25. Ok you whant the definaative answer......... not sure if you wil like it but this is my opinion and backed up with law well my interpritation of it. so AFAG is best practice and they haev been very carful what they say. in terms of rigging work, yep read it no worries just need to make sure that the person doing the splice is competent, what is that well, trained, assessed, experianceed able to communicate, and demonstrate total commitment to adhearance to rules. for PPE our climbing kit is complex high risk so have a read of this The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 2002 the person needs to be competent but the splice must conform to relivant standard, ie 1891 for strenth, but it can also be iso compliant, so lots of records and testing etc. this is the reson there is a problem with 'approved' splicing, some have stuff cheaked by the factory soem do not and until there is a definative testing protocol this debate will go round and round. there you go kev
