  1. about the same if free lance if in a colege any think from 12.5k basic minimum wage to about 25k about 100 per person per day yep but its creeping up, if you think we have 2 admin people who at busy times work fllat out moving paper booking places, we have to find sites o the list goes on, but trainers have to now jump even moor hoops and hell there are some really good ones outther and also some really bad ones also an excellent felling tutor may not be very good climbing it just gets hard , and to be honest we all whant andneed to make a profit so. but lantra sector skills have doen some resurch and prices are massivly dependant on location there you go ohh ps and thanks to the government again..... trainers who do things like chainsaw stuff will have to increase there teaching quals and may have to be part of the new licence scheme moor expence at that end += ??? kev
  2. well it would be wrong to discuss individuals rates but we pay beteen 170 and 300 a day depending what it is the assessor is doing for us and what level of qualificATIO butalso remember thanks to government procedures it is getting harder and harder to do multiupul assessments in a day and for some thing like large tree if it is a big tree you may get one assessment a day med trees 2 assessments 31 4 assessments may be 3 it all depends on the candidate, and thay have a maximum time limit and if you are doing chipper and a candidates take there full time you can gey max of 4 in a day. thers food fotr thought
  3. on an nptc assessment the candidate only needs to identify signes of blunt cutters, they are not expected to change the blade. kev
  4. As for the BWC qualification, a couple of things really, you can always go for a direct assessment, down load the info from the nptc and read up, present for assessment and see, now as a trainer, im bound to say we recomend training befor, but remember it is a level 2 qual witch is a basic level, and should not be too taxing. also you could do a lantra ITA one day, and again as an instructor, the delivery is entirly dependant on us. some peole have very limited exposure and knowlwge and all you will get is a tinmy bit of stuff that meets the needs and others will be very experianced and able to tell ylu rafts rafts and rafts of info. i think it is a shame when some one seems let down by training, did you feel that you really lernt nothing??? kev ps. dont forget level 2 is a basic minimum standard not a pinicle of experiance and excellence
  5. that will be the rip off of the NPTC scheme (word for word from the old standard) that cvaused a bit of a stirr with people like the hse due to the poor vetting/varifiying/auditing and allagedly skills base of the 'instructors' currently the HCTA are 'working with' nptc and nptc to adress certain issues heheheheheh
  6. ditto at the mo just dont get better, but remember everything breaks in the end kev:001_tongue:
  7. we charge £35 per hour plus that vat and milage kev

  9. err i thought LV 1m 11kv 2m 33 2.5 66 3m vacinities and of cource then we have cat etc to recall and all that is changing have we looked hear NPTC | Latest News | Utility Arboriculture Review Consultation happy readiing on top of the new CS units two but strangly i disagre with what you chapsare saying, at the moment what is required is anything closer that 15 m or twice hight to power cabels needs special advice. now you can argue that a little knowleg is a dangerouse thing but where do you stop teaching insualted ABC covere d pilc polymerics?????? most people can spot the juce some get confused with bigger bt but would it not be better to drive home the do not touch message?? thoughts kev

  15. sorry i should be moor specific that last lot was a consukltation process and judging by the feed back i think there will be moor changes, and while 32 and 33 will in essence merge 33 will still be arround in its own right well see all being released in aboout a month or so kev
  16. or will it................................................
  17. sort of like an exam question ??? well to a greater extent i think you are all correct. if a risk assessment spots hazards, hazard events risks and identifies controls were does the method statment in the context of tree working fit in. well for me it is taking the controlls identified in the risk assessment and putting the detail on them. i like bobs list but it covers everything fron time and order to detail of how and wear, dependant on what a client whants i hav been given many MS that are just a risk assessment they dont go further cheers kev
  18. dont concentrate only on your cuts, yes the yare important, but assessments are all about judging your entire performace. tree man tom has the cuts correct and each cut needs to be to standard twice. double attached when ever cutting body position in relation to cutting TWO hands on the saw. the assessor should not put you in one of the rare situations where single handed use would be allowerble. your genneral climbing procedure must be in line with TGTGCP II. PPE/loler in dATE and servicable climbing helmet!!! first aid kit and wistel knowlege of RA and how species behave when cut. how to safly start saw on ground and pass to climber safley how two safly start saw in tree may be asked to demo at least a couple of ways of starting. most candidates i see that fail ether have poor quality face cuts, or endanger them selves through body position or moving the saw arround with chain still buzzing in staead of chain break or waiting for it to be still. having said that i have had a few candidates of late who did not even get off the ground, no loler/FA/WISTEL and even gear that was haning including rope ppe. if you have not had training i would always suggest that befor the test. good luck hope that helps kevin
  19. hi all hears a twist on the thread............ what do you see the role of a method statment for arb operations is???? discuss..... kevin
  20. i guys up hear in suffolk we have loads of cs32 trees and have a number of cources arranged give us a ring. as for 33 there are very few instructors for this and even less assessors, we are lucky that im a 33 assessor, geting the trees is hard, but if you have trees over 30 inches at felling height and are interetsed in assessments plese gat in touch kev
  21. complex but if you stic to max weight of trailer 750kg and MAM not exceedong 3500kg plus trailer you will be ok, there aree some ratios n stuff but that is the basic rule the dsa do leaflett d100 i think about your entitlementsor look on web site kev
  22. the other thing is basic minimum wage what do you get payed an hour. to be honest id get advice look at moving and sue the bugger
  23. run run run mate this joker is really chancing his arm and yours, you wonder if he treats you in this way what else he is scrimping on. you have a fundimantal right to at least a statment of employment that lays out your hours, if you work a full time 5 day week bout 8 hour day i think with bank hols you are now allowed 28 day a year. i would really seriously get some advice and get another job, does he supplie your ppe pay for your training etc?????? kev
  24. what o chaps well hears my two pnny worth, most regulations these days feed in to a risk led saftey culture. in a nut shell weather it is loler puwer what ever all the ones we mainly come in touch with require that a RA is carried out the hse have a basic 5 step model there are otheres and you will get advise on differant areas of risk assesmnt specific to a issue ie loler, consider the load, cosh the substance vibration the machine, ois the out put, but in essance they are all the same spot the hazard, (work out what needs to happen (hazard event) see who will be harmed etc etc then apply ERICPD, eliminate, reduce, isolate, Control, PPE, Disapline in an exame you would normally seperate out the issues arrising for m each issue, and at work quite oftern you woulld find in appropriate to carry out the RA specific to the issue seperatly, however when it comes to controlls thats when the cleaver meshing it al together would kick in. ie afag 401, covers PUWER, COSHH, Phisical agents, to name just a few can you work out were ????? cheers kev
