1. I always find leaving a couple of biggish branches on the pavement helps...makes their tiny minds think 'Oh, were did that come from?'
2. I've just heard from a mate of mine in Basildon, Essex, that the FC just visited to check his reports of Chalara. The said its only present in young trees and coppice regrowth and that the more mature trees were victims of 'other factors'. Well, I'm seeing mature ash dieing back and leaves blackening and curling. So apparently its not 'ash dieback' its ash. dying back! - confused!
3. pay up with 14 days or pay a 25% surcharge...thats what I have on my terms and conditions....
4. I've been using them for about 3 years now. I love it:thumbup:. It is a pure climb harness though...its a pain in conifer hedges or close crowns. If you like a 'seat' type harness that keeps all the weight off your hips, this ones for you. Each to their own when it comes to harnesses!
5. right on Felix!..don't forget the 'Gucci logs!'
6. after a day of flat-out pricing up, a nice ruby murray, a glass of Merlot and finish the night in front of the roaring log-burner with a couple of Drambuies...life is good!
7. do it mate!..Geoff gave me a hand to do mine. Its was a nightmare of a job I must admit..but got it all in, insulated and cowled for a grand. Worth getting an Ecofan for it too I also got quoted £2k. The burner came to £650 and I checked it out online as soon as the fella left...£330 delivered....

depends whether you want it to work off road or look good at the end of the day My wagons are Landies and get used and abused..they carry what I want and go where I need them to go. They are old, uncomfortable and do the job.
9. Jeez, the Military procurement system is run by trained chimps...how does crappy kit like this end up at the sharp end with our fighting men when its not fit to deliver firewood?
10. I've had similar...but more direct quotes. They ask who else has quoted and then say 'I'll do it £50 cheaper than #### tree services'...Let 'em get on with it...the customers that pick the cheapest instead of the best are looking for what they get...good luck to 'em!

hello Stevie, we met at Jonesies arbshow a couple of years ago mate. I've had a Scots lad working for me as a driver/groundie for the last year. He's a great lad and will be moving back up to Scotland next month. If your looking for another pair of hands on your crew, I can't recommend him enough. He's got his CS30,31,38, BWC and stumpgrinder tickets. He's moving up to your neck of the woods. Give me a shout if you want his number or I can pass on yours.

Cheers Fella!,

13. great day today..Oak dismantle with a crane...all down by 1400. Great to have Geoff with me with his magic MEWP and titanium nads!
14. I love my 150..however, it is not as robust as a 200/201T...but then its only a baby!. I've punched a hole in the plastic casing at the back and had a couple of minor linkage problems. I've also found, that due to the small size chain, the sawdust is very fine and you have to religiously clean it to keep in oiling nicely...super little saw, but don't be to rough with her boys!
15. when my eldest lad was a nipper, I bought him an action man jeep with a machine gun mounted on it. He was playing with it, when he started franticly searching for something...'What are you looking for Son?' I asked, 'my bullets!'..at this he covered his mouth with his hand wide eyed...'whats up?' I asked..'I'm not allowed to say that word am I Dad?'...'of course you are Son!'. I replied...'Oh yeah, its BO##CKS I can't say isn't it?'....bwa ha ha!
16. I just told companies that if they can pay me within 14 days, I don't want to work for them...problem is they lie through their teeth!...I'd rather not do the job that wait 3 months for payment on a job I've paid overheads and wages on
17. ..if you shop at Tesco's, probably for lunch
18. Its whatever you stipulate on your conditions of contract when you quote for the work. I have this problem and its causing major cash flow problems for me. Its not too bad if you've got a regular flow of contract work coming in from the person who owes you, but when its occasional jobs it can be difficult. I don't usually work for Estate Agents, as I've found them to be untrustworthy in the past, but I have one I work for. I quote, he bills the tenant, then when he gets paid, I do the work and get paid with the week...its worked so far (still don't trust them though!).
19. lovely bit of carving..puts my efforts in the shade!
20. 'Felled a Cypress with an iron bar in it. Tree twisted 90 degrees took down some lv wires which went into the garden pond an electrocuted the pet duck. The clients son was watching and said "thats the coolest thing I've ever seen!"' bwa ha ha ha ha, just did a small wee over that one!
21. was freelancing and got sent on a rigging job with no rigging kit...was told to make do. Went well until one of the last big rings I was chogging down bounced onto its side and started a 'dambusters' roll towards the property...despite valiant attempts to halt its inexorable advance by the groundies...it rolled right through a large patio window and into the middle of the front room...and the burglar alarm went off (the house was not occupied). We then had to stay onsite till 2030hrs until a glazier was found to replace the window....DOH! Also, chogging down a very dodgy old Oak, too unstable to rig, when one of the last big lumps bounced and took out the corner of a recently rebuilt wall, the builder was a Wildlife trust volunteer, who spend a couple of years refurbishing the surrounding walls. He recently passed away, just after finishing the job...felt terrible about it . The warden there told me not to worry, as it would give the volunteers a project to do....unavoidable but I felt quite guilty!
22. The Mogs long gone mate...sold it about 12 years ago Lovely wagon (and I really miss the air-horns!)..but I find my 130 fits into jobs a lot easier..especially with a nice little TW125 which we can squeeze in anywhere
23. Some lovely set ups on here fella's.....my trainset...over the last 15 years or so...
24. 'Courtesy of George Stephane Fraser. This photo shows Tony Mead, Signal Platoon, 9th Parachute Battalion at Pegasus Bridge in 1951. On D-Day, he landed in a tree, and a branch penetrated his abdomen. Incredibly, he still managed to get to the RV and take part in the assault on the Merville Gun Battery.' how nails was this fella?..for those of you not familiar with this action; Battle of Merville Gun Battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 'They are in fact, men apart - every man an Emperor!'
25. ha ha!, fair do's Tel! 'And spike i do love ya buddy but you Biatch' no worries Bud, ya win some ya lose some!
