  1. I would employ a reputable planning consultant (they should be mrtpi or rics registered) As long as you have been using the land for fencing for more than 10 years then that use is immune from planning enforcement. You may have to apply for a lawful development certificate (existing) to prove that this is the case. It is good that you have an extensive paper trail and witnesses but as far as the law is concerned a statutory declaration from a person such as yourself naming dates etc is taken as oath. It is the councils duty to follow case law which takes precedent; a stat dec is the final word and can't be questioned unless the council can prove significantly otherwise. I wouldn't try to cancel the visit as it may ring alarm bells. The council has a duty of care to respond to a complaint and they have the right to investigate without appointment on land.
  2. So by that you charge £1000 plus a day per person working on the basis of 200 for 1.5 hours for a normal day then double it for a call out £2000 ? I would call that taking the pi s I think you would very soon not have any work and would lose a lot of contracts
  3. Ok thanks for your help you nearly lost a £700 pound order

  5. It was f r jones and son that told me they would not fit so I did not get any
  6. Hi, sorry if this is posted in the wrong bit but I was wondering if anybody could help me please. Does the Stein PTT fit a Petzl helmet or does anybody know of any other makes that will fit? If so, what are the makes, prices and stockists? I was going to buy a pair of the Steins today but was told it would not fit the Petzl. Any information given, I would be grateful
  7. Thanks for your help that has been so helpful
  8. Please could you help, I've looked at a job with 2 ash trees which have got ash die back but it isn't very advanced. They are next to a main road and the customer wants them to be taken down. What do I have to do in terms of taking them down ie burning on site and bio security? I have spoken to defra and the forestry commission and they were not at all helpful. Neither of the trees have a statutory health plant notice on them. What should I take into consideration when pricing this job, other than the normal variables. Thanks in advance
