  4. Spot on!! Reg. In my experience, the statements above are fact. I was working on a site a few weeks ago, there was an excavator driver who was the best I have ever seen, his machine was like an extension of his body. We got talking about HSE bollocks, and he said he did not have a cert has he was unable to pass some kind of screen based reaction test, does mean he is not a pro????? All I can say is he was on piece work he would out earn any driver I have ever seen.
  5. When I had my Entec Chippit 25 I had a switch under the engine cover, so I could turn off the no stress. When I was chipping I would turn it off, as I could operate the stop/go bar faster than the no stress and speed up productivity. If I was up the tree and the groundie was chipping I would turn the no stress on. I used to call it the numpty switch .
  6. I did say "most" I am in no way saying that the Schiesling is the ONLY good chipper out there. But I have used some VERY poor machines over the years.
  7. I have a Schiesling 400U PTO Unimog front mount, the main problem with it is its just too good!!!! If we ever have had too use another chipper we find most very poor in comparison:thumbdown:
  8. Ahh!! those knots............I was thinking, a list of knots......... You sould knot......... swear at the customer. fly tip. work without insurance. .
  9. Not wishing to criticize, but I think that is because others were waiting for the new boys/girls to have a go.
  10. You started by saying you were with 1 foot with your guess, you could have said 30cm.
  11. I had a few LDVs, many years ago, they served me well.
  12. I thought only newer "less experienced" chaps were to give answers
  13. I just use length of rope and a grillon(sp), don't like wire. I always have my main line set lower down the stem just in case.
  14. Yes pay MORE and get new!!! NOT pay LESS and get new, BIG difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Bigger than they looked in the other pic's. Bonus having the van shifted!!!
  16. If it in a path or walkway then yes, out or left high. If its a grass verge next to path then no its OK low, as I understand it, too be a trip hazard it would have to be in or on the path. Just be honest, you don't want to shift any more timber than you have to, just get a bigger truck Another way to look at it, if its Willow or Pop leave high, Ash or Beech as low as poss
