  1. I seem to recall reading or hearing (radio 4) that the rhizomorphs, of honey fungus, that extend out in the soil searching for a host if dug up while still alive fluoresce in the dark, and in the years before electric they would hang them in barns to provide light. And that this is the origin of the idea of a magic wand, have any of you guys heard of this??
  2. Why do some feel they have too continually put others down in an effort too make them selfs feel more of a pro Are they really sooooooooo insecure??
  3. But I have a hitch climber and some cord and am going to give the VT a try:001_smile:
  4. Bloody hell mate!!!!!!!!!! You don't have much luck!!!! Hope things work out. Does Anna need a groundy???
  5. Also, your own Co's name on the top of the cert would not look great
  6. As I said "I think". I'm sure I read or heard that you have to have the inspection done by some one who is not in "fear or favor" or some thing of the sort, IE, if you have an interest in the firm you are not seen as impartial. If your boss is friendly with another firm, they could do yours and you theirs, just a thought
  7. I don't think you would be considered "in partial". They would say you may feel under presser to "go easy" on your bosses gear. Would it make sense for a taxi firm to be able to do their own MOT's??
  8. I think you need to be asking, do you use a pulley WITH your friction hitch ??
  9. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! you too !!!!!!!!! LOL!!!
  10. Not so sure about that, it took them 3 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!! to get a line in!!!!!!!!!
  11. Good find, pleased to read they did not use spikes.
  12. IMO, second hand good quality beats new poor quality every time. There is a reason the good gear makes good money second hand.
  13. Thanks for the reply, only one bracket
  14. I don't wish too disrespect the guy, but that is a very predictable accident. Just plain bad practice.
  15. Pete your posts are alway informative and I for one appreciate you taking the time to post I think there is often confusion as too whether some thing is a "legal" requirement or COULD lead to prosecution under certain circumstances. I for one really do not like it when things are stated as "legally required" when there is more too it than that. If I have caused You too regret a post, that was not my intention Opinions are like @rse holes every body has one:001_tongue: Please keep posting:001_smile:
  16. I like that!!!!!!!!! How much reach does it have? What will it lift? Nicely done!!!!!
  17. Bob how often do you carry out first aid? I have never had to carry out mouth to mouth, so are we likely to remember the training after 3 years? Your first aid ticket HAS AN EXPIRY DATE!!!!!! with good reason I would say. In the last 15 years I have not gone more that 2 weeks without using a saw. I would argue there would be grounds for more training IF you have an accident I really do not feel I need more training, I feel I am good at my job, my farther has been a joiner for over 50 years and has never had to do any refreshers, its all a load of bollocks IMHO. Bob, if you feel to need refresher you go for it, we are all different, I ain't trying too stop you
  18. So you are only "recommended" to do refresher training if you don't do a part of the work you trained for all the time. As a tree specialist I ONLY do the work I trained for ALL the time!! Sorted!!
  19. I don't see how that can stand up in court, under HSE legislation I have to show I have been trained, my NPTC cert shows that. They can kiss my hairy arse if they think I'm paying out again for some thing I already have!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Thank you David I was thinking Gano, but do they not all have a white underside? or is it discoloured by age?
  21. OK so my ID was correct!!!!! Clearly I know more than I thought!!
