  1. Chin up Tony, sounds like it was Buffs lucky day when you walked into the rescue center. You must have restored Buffs faith in human kind, which will have taken away his aggression. As David says, when the time is right, you offer could another dog, who's down on his luck, a chance to find a happy life and true friendship.
  2. Punctuation is also important, I fixed your for you
  3. Unless I'm working on the site, the way others do things is of no interest to me. My life is busy enough without worrying about what others chose to do.
  4. Has Peter had some more timber nicked??
  5. Well I've cast off the long johns and I heard the old wood pecker the other morning, so its spring here in my book.
  6. Its just down to supply and demand unfortunately. You only need to look at all the threads started on here by guy trying to get into the job. Tube train drivers are on over 34K, this is because they could not get enough drivers, so they upped the wage to get the staff. The fire men heard what they were on and thought we should get that, our job is more skilled and dangerous than driving a train!!! BUT for every fire service vacancy they get 80 applicants!!, so why pay more??? As long as there are guys who will work for £50 or £60 a day, people will pay £50 or £60 a day.
  7. I think the AAAC becoming more wide spread would help this, as it could become the industry bench mark, so other schemes would be asked for less.
  8. Not if he is under 18 (I think it is) or in training.
  9. Because as has already been posted, if the wage is not as high as the employee wants they may still take the job, but will look for something better and leave, which is a waste of the employers time.
  10. I agree. If I was a AAAC I would not want that "brand" diluted. As a AAAC, how would you feel about a tiered scheme??
  11. Seems clear to me, when removing dead wood you are not "proposing to cut down a tree" so do not need give notice. I have in the past asked two different LA's if they wish me to apply for dead wooding, they both said no.
  12. There were a lot less of us then.
  13. Looked like more of a case of should fell, so does that make what they did a "stunt climb"??
  14. What an unpleasant thing to say:thumbdown:
  15. As it is not a lot, you could not really let an employee use it, originally it would have had a very large guard round the head which has been removed and I don't know how good that replacement engine is??
  16. Here you go, mine was just like this, but I moved the handle too the other end Stump grinder-Little David-petrol 13HP Loncin engine. on eBay (end time 10-Mar-10 13:01:43 GMT)

    easy rider

I just bend the stabilizers up, so the bike leans over a bit. Once you see them riding round without the stabilizers touching the floor take them of.
  18. My "Little David" had a standard vertical cutter head.
  19. I can light a fire with just green Ash. Any of the guys who have been in the game long enough to have worked before chipper were common will know just how well it burns, it simple really Ash if only 50% moisture content, most other hardwoods are between 75% and 150% ( I know that sounds daft, but it just means if its 100% MC that the water in the wood weighs the same as the wood) so Ash is obviously burn better (but not as well as dry wood) Maybe your Ash is different to mine (your not confusing it with Willow are you??)
