  1. :confused1:Have you tryed????? I've burnt Ash within hours of felling it, winter felled is best. I'm not saying its a good idea, but it does burn very well green.
  2. He looks like the evil dwarf off "the singing ringing tree"
  3. Thankyou And I apologise for calling you "the average tree hugger":001_smile: As you rightly say each situation needs looking at in isolation, there are jobs I would not do and those I can see good reasons for.
  4. Ash will burn straight from the tree (as it has a lower water content than other timber) Wood burner manufactures always use Beech (with a water content of 22%) for the KW hour out puts, they use Beech as it gives out more heat than most other "common" fire wood, if Ash burnt hotter I feel sure they would use that. All the preferred fire woods will burn when not dried properly, thats why they a preferred as most people don't dry there wood enough. The fact that you also say you avoid Pop and London Plane (both of which burn well when dry) would suggest you would benefit from drying your timber more
  5. Sean, my first post "do they need a contractor" was said very much tongue in cheek. My post about having done protester removal was simple a statement of fact, your come back just reinforced my view (from experience) of your average "tree hugger". You have no interest in the whys or wherefores of what happened or why the trees where being removed or who was protesting, and you bellow your put down from your position very firmly on the moral high ground. I have a simple rule I apply to the way I run my life, I ask myself would our society work if every one lived as I do, up till now I have always been able to answer yes. The protesters I had to work round could not have said the same.
  6. Andy I can't believe you didn't say "you asking?"
  7. Ladders really are the work of the devil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. This looks like a good opportunity for the AA to show us that they really do fight our corner. Come on AA you say you stopped two strokes being banded (although I'm sure the construction industry were on that one too) now get this unfair taxation stopped.
  9. I thought I was a cow boy!!!!!!!!!! Love the hy-vis and chapter 8!!!!!!! Make me think I sould maybe go for AAAC
  10. I've done a bit of protester removal in the past.
  11. If you find Ash better than Beech I would suggest you are not drying your timber for long enough.
  12. It was a stupid comment IMO and I would have made my post no mater who had ever had made it, so don't flatter yourself
  13. :confused1:funny looking foot locking?? Nasty rip!! I was not very impressed.
  14. Ouch!!! Good post, its good to be reminded what can happen, hope you heal fast and get to it real soon.
  15. Be very careful, this is often called a "cartel" or price fixing and is totally illegal
  16. I think their right, I wouldn't buy one
  17. Did you get me a 66 with new caps?????????? Or failing that an idea of when they may be available?? Hope you had a great time mate!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Not of any benefit to me, I want a labourer on a labourers wage, not a climber (who doesn't climb) on a climbers wage. I do take your point re W@H.
