  1. :confused1:So if you are not assessed for the updates whats the point????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  2. The blue book was what you used to use to work through your training and assessment, when you passed your assessment your assessor would sign the book, then you sent in the signed part of the book and they would send you your certificate. If you still have a blue book its too late now too send it in.
  3. And I don't suppose the fact that you are an assessor and make money from people updating there certs has any bearing on this opinion does it mate
  4. My word this is hard work!!!!!!!! I don't have a blue book!!:001_rolleyes:I have a cert!!!!!!!!
  5. For pittys sake!!!!!!!!! Yes of course I did, that why I replayed as I did. You used to use the blue book to get your assessment, then send it in for the cert. If you still have a blue book its to late now to send it in, but if you have the cert it is sill valid.
  6. :001_rolleyes:Obviously you cannot send in a blue book to get a cert, but any cert that was issued is still valid. I know a guy who was AAAC until a few years ago (when he sold his Co) who has the same certs as me.
  7. I DON'T need to look it up, my tickets have NO expiry date.
  8. UTTER RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'll be telling me my driving license is out of date next:001_rolleyes:
  9. Any one can get the book Johnny, have your got the cert????????
  10. If I got a decorator in and after he had finished the room looked just as it did before he started (even if he had a huge pile of my old wall paper to show me) I would not be happy. My customers always want something when they ring me, be it more light, more view or just less tree. If they can see no difference why would they pay me???
  11. Paul your not that far from me, if you get any big jobs that offend your conscience, please feel free you let me have their number PS Why does felling healthy trees cause you no such difficulty's??
  12. But you get the VAT back on all your running costs, fuel, etc. And as you told us a while back to make a go as a two man gang you need to charge £600 a day, that takes you well over the VAT threshold any way.
  13. They were the only climbing tickets when I took them, so I did the highest level available, cost me £50 and a days time for the assessment!!!!!
  14. I have 20,21 and 22, that covers all aspects of work from rope and harness.
  15. I tell people whats best, if they still want something else I explain the consequences and if they still want that I will do it. It's there tree. Are you worried about what the neighbours will think or other tree guys??
  16. Does that not make you more than a little hypocritical??
  17. :confused1:Do you like taring up your chimney???
  18. TBH, our work is so subjective and continually changing. I have very little interest in what my "peers" have to say about what is the right. or wrong way to prune a tree. A few years ago rips and tears were the work of the cow boy, now its "fracture pruning". I come one here to pick up tips on ways of getting the job done and for a laugh, not to see if I'm doing it right, my customers are the final arbiter of that one.
  19. You sould like some of the custmers I've come across in the past:thumbdown: So he was on site for half an hour and charged £30 and you think thats his wage:001_rolleyes: So he does not get paid to travel to site??, answer the phone when you rang him??, clean his gear at the end of the day?? And what about his pension??, holiday pay??, sick pay?? tax??
  20. I've met very few people who have even heard of that poem. Ash is popular because it splits easy and burns well when unseasoned most timber is sold insufficiently seasoned, so people think Ash is the best fire wood, if they dried there other timber correctly they would learn the truth.
  21. I'm a tree man or a climber. All this fuss about "words". Surely your not an arborist on the days you fell a healthy tree just because the owner wants you too. I maybe an arborist some days, when I dead wood or do other work that does little harm to tree and very occasionally benefits the tree. But mostly I damage trees or remove them for the benefit of the client, the skill is in limiting the damage and knowing how much the tree can take. But I have no interest in what I'm called or what my "peers" think of me.
  22. B&Q still have some, nip down and stock up
  23. My four all loved bitter or stout at that age!! My girls (7 and 5) still do.
