  1. The "mile high club" is about being over a mile high.
  2. Or park chipper more than ropes tail length from tree.
  3. Not always, depends on the TO, some are more than happy to help the less experienced. Technically a home owner could carry out their own tree work on a TPO'd tree, so a TO should be able to deal with people of vastly differing experience.
  4. If they are within the CA, but TPO'd, you need to do a notification not an application.
  5. Thats bonkers!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought the one for my mog was dear at £560+VAT
  6. What happens if you hit some steel or the saw unexpectedly plays up?????????
  7. Mine always have nicks in them, so would break fairly easy
  8. Well thats blindingly obvious really These machines are built to chip tree "limbs", we all also have limbs, limbs which we use to put tree limbs into the chipper. It would be very difficult and prohibitively expensive to produce a machine that can tell the difference between a timber limb and flesh limb. We have to use these machines with care and respect, if we make an error it can be horrific.
  9. I was told that if you get more than 25 cars behind you you can get done.
  10. This is one of the reasons I never use a steel core.
  11. I have a case like this just now. The home owner wishes to reportage, the mortgage providers surveyor says the tree is causing movement. The TO says they need to prove the tree is causing the movement. So the client need to prove to the lender that the tree is not moving the house or prove to the TO that it is. This will be very difficult and costly. So I asked the TO what mitigation he wood want for us to remove the tree without any reason. He suggested the planting of 20 trees elsewhere on site. This will be cheaper and simpler, IMO.
  12. How long does it generally take to get a license??
  13. Ah right, for some reason I thought it was 5 cube salable (which I alwas took to be stuff fit for furniture) and 8 cube none salable.
  14. I know that you need a FL if your felling over 8 cube in any quarter. Is it just Jan,Feb,March, etc, meaning if you did 7.5 cube on 31st of July you could do another 7.5 cube on the 1st of August without a FL?? If not how about doing 7.5 cube on Dec 31st and more on 2nd of Jan??
  15. I would have told them I needed to get to work, but not to worry I'll ring the local press and get them to send a reporter round to watch the gun until the plod arrived.
  16. I once had a guy come out from a neighbouring house with a hoover, just a normal carpet hoover and he started hoovering the sawdust up off his lawn!!!!!!!!!!!! His lawn was very nice, but even so.
