  1. But that has no significance what so ever in this situation, as a pulling rope was being used, not wedges. I think Dadio was correct, the gob was fine and could have been bigger without causing a problem, as he said the hinge and lack of pull were the problems. I often do gobs up to 50% and more on occasions, but I rarely use wedges.
  2. We tend to always be alone in the tree.
  3. I would call what you describe as "lead climbing" I've always know climbing without gear as "free climbing".
  4. IME killing Willow is the difficult bit. I have trees in my yard that have grown from tipped logs.

The harness is very good, IMO.
  6. True Stevie, we should all stick what we are good at and pay others to do the things we are not so good at But its good to at least try every thing once, because you might just be really good at something you have never tried
  7. This is something I know very little about, but would really like to know more about, how would you feel about starting a new thread on this very subject?? And giving some of us a bit of info on how to go about getting into it
  8. I'm just glad he did not do the climb comp, to be beaten by a "MEWP man" would have ruined my day
  9. You are totally right Tony TBH, I think I'm fairly near the limit of what I can charge in my area and make good money, so I'm not complaining But times are tough and some are charging stupid rates, some of the prices I have heard are bonkers, fortunately I'm busy this year (last year was touch and go, I got really worried at one point) so I'm not worried when they say I'm to dear, as I have other work. But we all need to value our skill and put a fair price on our time. We set our prices, so we can't really complain if we are making no money.
  10. Thats the problem, I have mouths to feed and find it really hard to up my rates when I know this means I'll loose a lot of work.
  11. But its clearly not enough or the right Co's, or you would not have started this thread.
  12. I've not really come across trees here that could not be well inspected from the ground, in other countries where trees are 200 or 300 feet tall its far more dangerous, but here in the UK I've always felt able to look a the tree and decide if its safe or not.
  13. I try to have a mix Rupe, I'm on with some council work just now and with that and some other bits I'll be owed £10K, which I won't see for a few weeks. So over the next week or so I'll be doing some private jobs that will pay at the end of the day, which will help the cash flow no end
  14. "Never do today what can wait until tomorrow"
  15. By composting or burning??? Please give more info, I wish to heat my pool:001_smile:
  16. Get it climbed. I've done 1000's of hedges and only got a MEWP in ones, hired it for the week and parked it up before lunch on the first day, much faster to get in the middle of the hedge and crack on!!!IMO. Plus if the job will stand the cost of MEWP hire, just charge the same and pocket more profit!!!
  17. Thats going to look great in a few years mate!!! You will go back in the future and feel really proud of that!! Nice one!!!
  18. I really don't get this My 201t is excellent and every bit as good as the 2010 200t it has replaced.
  19. The cost of steel and the weak pound has really pushed up the price of these. Its probably worth nearly its new price back in 2008.
  20. In good condition about £5K+VAT I would have thought.
  21. When it comes to hypocrisy Christianity really does excel.
  22. No I don't, but the point I'm making is that even if the the god of the bible bid exist he is a god of evil, not love.
