  1. As a business owner in the NW I think one problem you may have is your not justa subbie, you have set yourself us as a tree company, this like it or not makes you a competitor of mine, which is fine and I wish you the very best But I'm not in the habit of inviting the competition to come work for me and learn from my years of experience. Personally I would have remained a subbie climber for a few years, picking up experience and then set up as a Co (that is actually what I did)
  2. This is a great thread, it really cuts through all the nonsense of some who bleat on about really pathetic stuff, "he said this", "my post was deleted because of a swear, but his swear was not" boo hoo!!!!! I have lived a pretty blessed life with very few bumps along the way, I'm very fortunate. The honest post in this thread to just try and help a fellow member are heart warming and humbling, nice one guys. I can't offer much in the way of advice, but if any one wants any inspiration or a way to look on the bright side and count your blessings just watch this vid. 3. Nice job Tom, are they as similar to big leylandii as they look?? Is it as sticky, with lots of spikey dead wood????
  4. Leylandii are like dogs, they are not the problem its the owners. Years ago I removed a 60footer that had a 2ft trunk, it was at the end of a beautiful hedge that was around 8ft tall, 18inches deep and the sides were like a billiard table. The trunks on the hedge were about 6 inches thick. They had all been planted together and the owner just allowed the end one to grow, but clipped the hedge several times each year.
  5. You are totally wrong!!! Its them taking the businessman's advice and borrowing to do it thats caused them the problems!!!!!
  6. I never do 2 copes for TPO's and generally just send a short email for CA notifiatioins.
  7. A Little Story The businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The businessman complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied only a little while. The businessman then asked why he didn't stay out longer and catch more fish? The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The businessman then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time? The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos; I have a full and busy life, señor." The businessman scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and I could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats; eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman, you would sell directly to the processor and eventually open your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually New York City where you would run your expanding enterprise." The Mexican fisherman asked, "But señor, how long will this all take?" To which the businessman replied, "15-20 years." "But what then, señor?" The businessman laughed and said, "That's the best part! When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions." "Millions, señor? Then what?" The businessman said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos." The fisherman, still smiling, looked up and said, "Isn't that what I'm doing right now?" -Author Unknown
  8. Any insurer who tried to dodge claims would soon get a bad rep and loose business, just like any other trade that offered poor service. To think people only fail to follow best best practice because its a while since their assessment or training is a little naive IMO. How many people still drive in the manner they were instructed?? and not because they have forgot, people just prefer other ways. Who it to say "best practice" is best, I agree its a good starting point for the novice, but I think the more experienced move on to more advanced and skilled ways of working, I'm personally not interested in some suit telling me how to do my job.
  9. Not sure, but tickets are not a licence, its no where near as clear cut. My insurer was more interested in years of trading/experience. What if you have tickets, but are not working to best practice as taught and assessed for tickets??
  10. Don't hold your breath Even if you are driving illegally (speeding/drink driving, etc) your insurer still has to cover third parties. You won't get your personal losses covered (car, etc), but other peoples losses are still covered.
  11. People keep saying that your insurer will not pay out if you have no tickets, but no one ever comes up with an example of this having ever happened. I 18 years of have PL&EL insurance (with 2 different Co's) I've never been asked for tickets, I've made two claims and both paid out without hassle and without asking about tickets. I've have also had numerous claims
  12. Another option would be to go to your threat and just post "Bump", this will bring your thread back to the top of "unread posts". That way your thread does not die and people will read the suggestions allready posted and may add new ones Personally I tend to only buy something I have seen or heard about and so already know how its used.
  13. Really?? Level load of what???
  14. How so?? Estimating the weight of your load is not made harder by the plate on the trailer.
  15. On my hands and arms I find just washing my hair gets it off. I generally use Voseen shampoo.
  16. There is another thread here on a very similar subject http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/40164-new-kit-info.html#p…
  17. If AT is so biased and cliquey why are threads like this allowed to run??? Surely we the evil mods would just delete them and continue our suppression of those we dislike.
  18. Does deafness affect balance???? I know the balance organs are in the inner ear, do not know if the two are linked???
  19. For goodness sake, I was suggesting that if you thought the truck in Stevie's avatar was a transit (which it is not) that you had poor eye sight and as such were disabled.
  20. That is all about "employees". plus the second paragraph of the first link states "this is not compulsory".
  21. Are you for real?????????????????
